Hello everyone,

I am going to play my first 2 games on a warhammer 40k league, first time playing with my Astra Militarum in a tournament, league.

So anyone can spare some tactics for any of the battles? Got almost everything on the codex. I have played against Black Templars some times so I think I can handle it.

Some tactics tho can help a lot!

I am thinking of playing against BT Pask with vanquisher, LR Executioner, some infantry blob and conscripts, Veterans 2 squads, meltaguns and plasma guns, a defence line, Vendetta and maybe a Wyvern or smth. I could use my LR battle tank as well or a Punisher.

So go on and give me more ideas for Tau or BT whatever you can spare.

Thank you in advance,

Is this going to be an escalation league? meaning starting at 500 points and increasing from there? If so, I'd suggest using Pask as your warlord almost immediately (in an Executioner) (sorry, my preference)

Not sure what you want from us. You are familiar with your AM, yes? an entertaining thing that you could do would be to use Creed as your warlord in a Valkyrie, possibly with an Officer of the Fleet (if he works as the previous incarnation did). The ability to choose 2 warlord traits, as well as the ability to reroll them, is huge. This could potentially make it less entertaining to play against you though - Denying the chance to 'Slay the Warlord' is less then entertaining if your opponent is using an assault oriented army. Personally, when it comes to warlord traits for Creed, I'd roll both on Strategic Traits, and hope for any roll and 'Divide to Conquer'.

I see! Thanks a lot for more ideas mate. No it is a non escalation leauge 2k army lists, with no super heavies or allies or any FW models. That's it pretty much. Haven't thought before of this Creed-use to be honest! The thing mostly I fear is the vs Tau game since I haven't played my AM against Tau before and I'm not really familiar on what could I use to out shoot this clearly shooting army with so many ignore covers. Other than Pask and more tanks to render unuseful most of his anti infantry shooting what do anyone suggest?

He's got tons of s7 shots at 36'. But very dependent on markers. Your first goal is to eliminate markers. Wiverns are doing it great. Than concentrate on hard-hitters - crysis suits and broadsides. Ignore riptides or tarpit them with fearless guards if they get close.

Nothing really to beating Black Templar as long as you gunline well.

If you really want to irk him, when he declares a challenge in assault, decline. He will make your Character sit out of the combat, but then he won't get re-rolls on his Character's To-Hits. This will normally make combat a tie. Being IG, you might lose combat and have to take a LD test without your Character's LD, leading to a possible Sweeping Advance that he will handily win. Although, losing combat on the turn he charges can free his unit to be shot at in your turn.
Choose wisely when to use this trick.

I don't understand this creed tactic in a Valkyrie? Your making an extremely expensive warlord who's primary roll is to issue orders and your going to put him in a flyer? So no orders, and if against tau(who spams sky fire and interceptor) will probably blow it out of the sky and potentially kill creed. If the flyer is delayed at all then there's the chance you waste creeds orders even more making him a huge waste of points.
