Hello Dakka,

So, I’ve completed my Eldar army to a level I am happy with and now I begin the great pondering on where to go next with my modelling and painting next.

After a bit of head scratching, I have decided I’d like to start a faction to represent the imperium. The faction I have decided to go with…..(drum roll)….Adeptes Custodes.

Now, GW don’t make models or rules for the Emperor’s bodyguards, but after using the power of Google-Fu, I found the company scibor miniatures and their “Roman Legionnaires” range.

The problem I now have, is which SM chapter best represents the Custodes on the Table Top?

A little while ago I saw a thread on Dakka saying GK may be a good choice for them, I know scibor make some pretty cool mech suits which would make good Dreadknight proxies, and they also make some other figures which would make nice Centurion proxies if considering looking at other chapters.

However, how do people feel about Dark Angels representing them? I’d be starting this project very slowly, probably at about 500-700ish points, and I’d be buying the models piecemeal.

I’ve cobbled together the below, what are your thoughts?

I’m open to any feedback. Appreciate this isn’t the most original idea, but I like the thought of making some Adeptes Custodes for small pick up games with friends. Doesn’t have to be a “competitively” built list, mainly for painting and fielding as a CAD once in a blue moon.

Deathwing could work, and with some other bits you could have not-Ravenwing jetbikes. However, I think GK Paladins represent the best way to field Custodes, with 2 wounds and general killiness.
