Do I need to buy a LSS and scout marines if I want to run Scouts in an LSS? The scout models come with the LSS, but if I want to disembark, I would need to take them out and the pictures on the GW website make that look less than practical. Of course, this might be a rules question, but is having to disembark from the LSS an issue?

I went to Hershey Park in central PA this year, and I have to say I was more than a little disappointed. I fully expected the entire theme park to be make entirely of chocolate, but no. Here in America, we have "building codes," and some other nonsense about chocolate melting if don't store it someplace kept below room temperature.

Well, you will need ground-bound models to represent the scouts should the LSS be shot down or you disembark. There are two ways of doing this.

You can go the route of buying a Scout Squad for each LSS and making sure you have enough to go around. Most expensive, least effort.

You could, with a bit of work, convert the LSS scouts to foot scouts, base them, and just leave the LSS empty. I can't see anyone having an issue with this rules wise, and it's the cheapest way, although more involved.

You could go the whole hog and magnetise said scouts at the feet, so you can have them on the base or the LSS, but this is going to need a lot of work to look right.

For reference, here's a Scout using the reposed legs and body of an LSS rider.

Hope that helps.

It's possible to build the LSS with the scouts removable (except the driver and gunner), using pinning and a single magnet (required to hold the pin on a handle). There's also enough gubbins in the kit to use that to cover the pin holes when the troops aren't on it.

This said, the embarked troops won't necessarily have the same weapons loadout as your actual squad - I'd use squad markings to identify the troops if you have multiple storms in your list.

I made all 5 passengers detachable because I wanted to be able to field a whole 5 man squad. I just magnetized an underslung vehicle mounted weapon. All their shoulders are magnetized as well so I can change up their weapons. Sorry I don't have any more pics as they are at my house on the continent, but here are the WIP ones from a while back.
