So, this is the first pure Ork list Ive written. I am looking to pick up the army as my next project, and a friend was kind enough to lend the dex so I could write up a list.

This is a first iteration list, and I would like to have some feedback from the wider world. I'm using the Horde detachment for this list

The list seems fine, just one thing. Deffrollas are garbage now. Rams are where it's at.

Pretty decent list, though im partial for BWs instead of trukks. Not much 12 orks can do, especially with the newer morale.

If it's your first try, why 2000pts?
You should play less points so you can really focus on your rules and tactics first instead of getting dispersed in managing plenty of miniatures.

The only reason it's 2000 is so i can try a few different things at once and see how they work together.

I'll read up on rams, maybe make that change.

But the reason i choose trukks is i can't take BW as DTs for the boys

Take meks to eat challenges.

Boss nobz NEED bosspoles. And take rams for trucks. You'll apretiate this dt reroll.

Better get 1 pk than 5 big choppas for nob bikers. And a regular bike but DLS or Finkin' Kap for your warboss.

I'd put meganobz in a truck and choppaboyz in a wagon. It works better this way. Deff rolla is not useful. Take ram. Also, consider boarding planks. Killkannon, though fun, is of little use on such a wonderful assault vehicle.

If you take 5 kommandos, don't bother with pk nob. He's never gona make it there. I'd just take 2 rokkits, infiltrate them and call it a day.

Killa kanz and footslogging boyz are out of place though. Half your list is fast, half slow. Orks don't work that way. You need concentration. But it's gona be fine for casual games as it is.

In addition to protecting the Boss Nobz from challenges, Meks are doubly useful in a trukk boyz list because.... well...you have trukks. Potentially repairing a hit as you careen towards the enemy is good.

The shoota boyz seem a random choice.

A mob that doesn't have to thunder towards the enemy and can instead hold objectives in your backfield is good, but in an ork horde the boyz don't have objective secured, so you don't gain any benefit for using troops to do it.

Shootas are sufficiently short ranged that you'd have to move out to the midfield to help anyway, and thirty boyz can't afford to be doing nothing.
Might I suggest a mob of Lootas or Flash Gitz instead?

Shootas were for midfield shooting with the wierdboy. I can easily drop the 30 Shootas to another squad in a trukk, minus the two dudes, to fit the wierdboy with them. That gives me 85 points to play with.

A squad of Lootas is 70, so i could leave the big mek and Lootas backfield to just shoot the crap out of everything.

Replacing the deff roller with a ram gives me another 5 points, which causes a total at 20 points left. Dropping the burnas to rokkits on the kommandos frees another 20. Do i get a fourth meganob with that?

And if i drop the kill kannon from the wagon, what do with those 30 points

So after a long while I have a chance to have a close up on the list

First off, the armament is good for our meta mate Its all you can do atm with upgrades

Secondly, unfortunately I do agree with others about trukks. In 2000pts games they will get touched and die in a stiff breeze, they are too fragile unless you get first turn and then it gets risky..

1500pts or less is good for trukks, not saying they are too bad but in 2k points they get hammered.

I would suggest bunging the boyz up in big squads as well, small squads will not get what you want out of them in big point games like this, and Mob rule will hurt them more than your opponent (you know what I'm like about my rabbiting about Mob Rule ).

Meganobz are good, Deffolas are ok, but that is all personal preference now.

If your taking kommandos then bundle up on them, small squads have a bad habit of dying too fast because 7th ed favors shooting as opposed to assault.

Killa kanz in small squads will die in stiff breeze (trust the unbound Kan wall list maker here ) my advice would be to replace them and bulk up your kommandos or Deffkoptas because you will not regret that choice

All in all its a canny list but I think it will work more efficiently in small points games... Which I'm happy to play against ya at

two thirty-ork squads I would say, and drop the rocket launchers. You have a lot of unneeded upgrades that could go to more boys etc. I'm not a huge fan of commandos and I'd suggest using lootaz instead.

RPJ is a waste of points. You can swap that for Rokkits on your BW so that Weapon Destroyed doesn't turn into Immobilized.

Nob Warbikers are a waste of points. You can better mileage out of MANZ or more Ork Bikers.

Also it is universally agreed that CAD is better than the Ork Detachment.

Also Huge Choppas aren't enough to matter.

Final thought: Where is your SAG going? He needs a unit of bodyguards. I recommend Mek Gunz, Gretchin or Lootas. He has good range and needs to stand still so his unit either needs to be a bullet shield or comparable. I love him, but he needs to be in the right unit.

Ok, so I will switch the red paint jobs to rokkits

If i also drop the big choppers from the nob bikers, i have 25 points left. Unfortunately, i don't think i will be able to squeeze in any shooting bodyguards for the SAG, so he will have to be on his own.

Any ideas on how to fix that?

Edit: well, i can fit a unit of gretchin. Would that do, just as ablative wounds?
