As a format, is different from standard steamroller how, exactly?
(Tried to find an explanation under PP's official rules, couldn't.)

I've never heard of German Steamroller. Who puts out the rules for it?

Self-proclaimed evil Cat-person. Dues Ex Felines
Cato Sicarius, after force feeding Captain Ventris a copy of the Codex Astartes for having the audacity to play Deathwatch, chokes to death on his own D-baggery after finding Calgar assembling his new Eldar army.

Dunno -- I looked up a couple "German Steamroller" events, and as near as I can tell, they use standard steamroller rules, except they're all 42 points.

Thats just using a very odd point total.
Steamroller doesn't proscribe a specific point total.
I don't get 42 points. It just seems like an arbitrary number because Europeans seem to like being different.

The best explanation I've found besides it gives you support options/choices, but you don't get the kitchen sink is:
As said it is for the Coin of Evil tournament, where people battle over the (now old) warmachine champion coin with the number 666. We play 6 games and you have to choose 6 casters from your faction wich you have to play. As for points: 42 = 6*6+6 and 36 = 6*6. Plus you cant net-list your lists that much, so every player has to come up with his own ideas. thats how these point limits came into being and stuck.

Wow, 6 casters? That kind of limits your factions.

Thats just a unique format where you make 6 lists with 6 different casters and must play them all.

Also, this pre-dates character restrictions which makes it allot easier for most factions to make 6 separate lists.
But yeah, it is / was a pretty wacky format.
