Ok, so for Necrons, they have the opportunity to put out a lot of Tesla shots to down MCs etc, but now that SM are a huge part of the meta, and will usually bring an IK, one must come prepared. By taking 5 Harbinger of the Storm Crypteks in a Royal Court, giving them the Ghost Ark dedicated transport, you have an AV 13 Open topped vehicle that can roll up in front of the Knight and unleash 20 Haywire shots into the Knight from the Crypteks inside. Does this sound like the best way to counter IKs for the Crons, or do you have another suggestion? Let me know what you guys think.

I prefer StormTek in a Nightscythe with Warriors, maybe two if I have two BargeLords.

Reason for that is IK can't hurt Nightscythes so you can always drop them off in exactly the right spot.

5 is overkill. 2 will do the job. So 2 stormTeks accompanying 5-8 warriors in a Ghost Ark is a solid anti-SH and AT squad.

The ghost ark however is not the best way to deliver them against an IK. 2 stormTeks in a 5 man warrior squad in a Night Scythe is much more survivable.

Pfft, everyone knows Destruct-teks belong in Ghost Arks, not Storm-teks.

And yes, Storm-teks in Night Scythes with Warriors is pretty good... but you know what's even more clever?
STORM-COURT!
2-4x Storm-teks + 1x Veil-tek (w/ Nightmare Shroud, if desired)
With this, you can apha strike any vehicle on the table on your first turn by veiling behind your target (preferably in a spot that puts you out of line of sight to the rest of your opponent's army). If you get first turn, you can potentially take out their best weapon before they've even had a chance to use it, AND net you first blood!
The downside is, as soon as they've done their job, there is no way your opponent is going to let you keep them to use again next turn, so he's gonna try to wipe them out. If you keep them cheap, that's not too bad. They would have taken out a threat that should cost significantly more than they themselves did. The perfect kamikaze squad.
(though, if you want to get ridiculous, I guess you could throw in a Lord or two with WS, SW, PS, MSS, RO to tank for the unit, maybe add a Chrono-tek if you still have a Cryptek slot open, to keep them alive... but that's a significant investment most people would probably skip).

A note on the Nightmare Shroud: many people overlook this piece of wargear because they don't know how to use it.
If you're ever using a Despair-tek in your army, you should definitely consider spending 10 points to give him this.
Why?
Well, first off, the Nightmare Shroud has the unique position of not being a shooting weapon. It is instead an ability that is activated during the shooting phase. Because it's not a shooting weapon, it can be used against a different unit than the one being fired at by the rest of the unit he's attached to. What does this mean?
Let's say you're playing against guardsmen. Turn one, you Veil your Storm-Court behind their Leman Russ. The Storm-teks all unleash their Haywire, frying it. The Despair-tek can then focus on another unit within range and force them to take a leadership test. If they fail, they're gonna run. If they're close to the table edge, as units tend to be while in their own deployment zone on turn one... you get the picture. (two enemy units gone, first blood, line breaker).

I've seen you talk about this before Skoffs and I e always been wary. How do you avoid scatter being a problem? I've always found the deep striking is very unreliable. And a full court of stormteks is v squishy indeed. Can you give some detailed examples of placement, distance etc and how you reliably avoid either scattering out of 12" range, or into the enemy for misshap. I run a FE army with lots of deep striking crisis suits and find the randomness of scatter a real frustration, so I've never really brought it to my necron game.

Keep them cheap.
2x Storm + 1x Veil (w/ Shroud) = 120 points
They're supposed to be a kamikaze unit (unless you've gone crazy and added Lords and extra Crypteks), if you lose them, it shouldn't be a massive blow, because they'll have (hopefully) accomplished their mission.

If their Haywire staff has 12" range, I want to aim for 7.5" from the intended target (average scatter is 7"), so if the arrow is pointing toward them, I miiiiight still be okay. If I scatter away and out of range, oh well, at least I should still be able to get something else of theirs to run off the table with the Nightmare Shroud.
If I can find a spot that avoids most of the rest of their army shooting at me, I can try again next turn.

I'd say 3 stormteks if you use that method, for insurance sake when you need to take on a SH or something with a decent save.

Its not much more expensive that way.

can neither confirm nor deny I lost track of what I've got right now.
