I really love the fluff and theme of this chapter, but they rock out with the two colours I hate painting most: black and white. I was wondering if I could homebrew a successor chapter with largely the same iconography, so I'm curious if the Templars would actually have any successors. Thanks for the help.

The Black Templars do not have successors. Your best bet would be to make an Imperial Fists successor, as they are the Black Templars progenitors.

There are no successors in official GW cannon about BT successors, but nothing is stopping you from using their chapter tactics and such.

I went to Hershey Park in central PA this year, and I have to say I was more than a little disappointed. I fully expected the entire theme park to be make entirely of chocolate, but no. Here in America, we have "building codes," and some other nonsense about chocolate melting if don't store it someplace kept below room temperature.

No official successors, but seeing how large and spread-out the Chapter is some side Crusade might have taken on a life of their own. No communications from HQ in 3000 years, no equipment consignments, no gilded invitation letter to the Feast of Swords (or whatever it was called). Maybe they start calling themself by their Crusade name, or after their original Crusade leader.

Successors of successor chapters are never referred as such; any 'Black Templar successor' would be referred as Imperial Fist successor, as that is the legion originating the gene-seed, even though BT might have provided the original training cadre for the new chapter.

But yes, there could be a chapter similar to Black Templars, sharing their gene-seed and iconography, but having different colours. There is even a precedent for that in the IF lineage: Imperial Fists and Crimson fists have same symbol, only in different colour. I based my Crimson Templars on a similar idea, I wanted a black-templarish chapter, but I still wanted to create my own colour scheme, organisation structure and history (see the link in signature for pictures.)
