Nice model, but distasteful name.

I am personally very upset that you have named your model Ebolis. Ebola causes a lot of pain and hardship for many families. Please consider our feelings, and the feelings of our family members, including our pets before naming your own models.

Nice job on the paint. Looks pretty vile.

Looks good, and personally, the name is nothing bad.

Anyone ever complain about Typhus?

lol people are upset about him naming it after a disease but not upset when people mock and insult peoples god's..... my god our prioritys are messed up. Both cause harm to those who are insulted. Personally I like it fits with the times.

I need to go to work every day.

So if I named my Valkyrie '9/11' should I expect people not to be offended?

Who cares? If you did that, you'd just look like a moron. I can only speak for myself. I don't get offended by morons. I just call a spade a spade.

The name Ebolis goes perfectly with the Nurgle theme, and the fact that we happen to be having an issue in the world RIGHT NOW doesn't make it offensive to me.

If you called a model "Polio" and I have a relative that died from it, me getting offended about your model would be a pretty pathetic display of oversensitivity, but that's just my opinion.

Keep the name. I like the model and the name, its fitting. Also, I don't find it distasteful. Ebola has only recently "become a thing" and honestly, if you have a problem with Ebolis, you should also have a problem with Typhus and have the other Nurgle named guys

It's kind of like getting offended that someone talks about driving / takes pride in their car / enjoys repairing vehicles, just because someone you knew and cared about died in a car accident. Or, in this case, just because people die in car accidents.

It's silly. The name fits perfectly with Nurgle and isn't intentionally offensive.. Nurgle is the god of Disease, so the guy sports a name similar to a real disease. Like Typhus. =/

Plague bearer?

My great great great great great great great great great great great great... Grandmother died from the plague.

The name is not distasteful, it's a good name and fits well. Ignore the oversensative knee jerking.

I at first found the name a little offensive, however it does fit and like others have stated it fits wother the model and the times and like the other names people have used it fits and I'm sure in no way was intended to offend people but maybe make a bad situation a lighter and in time if he didn't someone else would have used it

Frankly it's more about timing than anything else. The plague was a long time ago, and the other events are not "this week" current. Wait until it's been blown over for a few months then go for it.

Also, morganfreeman, that is one of the worst analogies I have ever heard. The others, while off base due to the timeliness factor, were more relevant.

Hammerdave, please use punctuation. Not trying to be an ass, just some advice that will help as you continue using dakka. And welcome.

Sorry I'll try to work on that and thanks for the welcome. I'm used to texting and do this all from my phone, so it's more habit them anything. I just try to type fast and cut corners where I can.

Come on, troa. You're the sensitivity police AND the grammar police? Isn't it tiring?

No, I didn't intend to offend the relatively infinitesimal amount of people affected by ebola, but I am happy to have offended those impressionable folks who's emotions are swayed so easily by their TV.

I find it especially strange in context, amidst hobby and art that fetishizes war and violence. I can embrace it, for I know it is so over-the-top ridiculous in its characterisation that it can't be taken literally. Neither should Ebolis be taken so seriously.

BTW, why isn't Liberia a U.S. State? That's what's really F'd up!

Can we at least all agree that MorganFreeman's analogy was ridiculous? I will be satisfied with general consensus on that point.

I like how people are NOW offended by Ebola when it's been around a long time.

That said, keep the name, forget the haters and enjoy the good looking model you've painted!

I am also very offended by your post!

The loincloth is far to shiny in my opinion.
Maybe try to tone it down a bit.

And as far as the "offensive" name goes:
I like it.
