I spoke to my FLGS and they said its no longer possible for them to get series 7 brushes since something happened in the US?

If true what are some good places in Canada to get replacements or brushes of equal quality?

Kolinsky hair's been banned in the US because there's some confusion about just how endangered the sources - siberian weasels - are.

No art shops in Canada that import Winsor & Newton? You should be able to order overseas if not. IIRC a lot of North American hobbyists ordered directly from the likes of Rosemary & Co.

Is the ban permanent?

If kolinsky sable is banned in US, would you say GW brushes are also in trouble?

It's down to CITES paperwork and how it is filled out.

The kolinsky sable is endangered in some areas and in plague proportions in others (china) - and inadequately filled out paperwork doesn't help matters.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).

GWs brushes aren't made of Kolinsky sable.

In any case, if you look around you can still find them - http://amzn.to/1vWmT7Q
