Veteran Squad (7 Veterans, 1 Sergeant, 1 Heavy Weapons Team) 100 points
weapons: 1 laspistol, 6 lasguns, 1 close-combat weapon, 3 grenade launchers, 1 missile launcher, frag grenades
wargear: forward sentries


Heavy Support: 150p.
Leman Russ Battle Tank ''Rolling Thunder''
weaponry: battle cannon, hull-mounted heavy flamer

This is a small and compact Astra Militarum army list that tries to bring in a balance of infantry, armor and hard hitting pie plates so distinctive of IG along with some half decent anti-tank found in 500 points lists.

Basically I have a Company Command Squad with two autocannons (aka four BS4 S7 shots) and a MoO for some long range pounding along with an entrenched (+1 cover) Veteran Squad with 3 Grenade Launchers and 1 ML for short range incoming vehicle pounding (3 S6 and 1 S8 BS4 shots at vehicles) or incoming infantry deterrents as well (4 small blast markers).

I got the bog standard Leman Russ to deal with MEQ (AP3 pie plate) and a heavy flamer to deal with outflankers / infiltrators / deepstrikers who threaten to charge the veteran squad and/or CCS hiding behind cover.

My objective grabbers are another 10 man Veteran squad aboard a Chimera armed with multilaser and HF, who carry a meltagun as well a 4+ armor so they dont get wiped out by small arms fire after disembarking and are still dangerous to both tank and light infantry alike. C & C appreciated

I don't think your Company Command Squad is legal. You can't have two heavy weapons in the Company Command Squad. Only 1.

2nded, sorry dude, but restrictions are restrictions...
-otherwise-

personally I've never really been a fan of chimeras, though I can see why other people like them...-but, chimeras cost allot for a transport in 500pts games... maybe switch out the chimera for a sentinel, armed with a lascannon for anti-tank.

-with the lascannon for anti-tank, you could drop the meltas-, freeing up some more points...

-if you play objective games-(which seems pointless to me at 500pts level), take rough riders. their cheap, fast and have a one use only space marine killing hunting lance.-remember, they can start the game in reserves, come in late, speed up the board and grab the objective, as everything can now hold objectives, but only contest against legit troops...

-loving the Leman Russ in 500pts...Playing like a true guardsman...-

-consider a master of ordnance in the command squad- very cheap for a massively powerful, low ap lrg blast... also snipers are great if the command squad is hanging back.

-just my initial thoughts as a veteran guard player...-

And what do you mean I can't take 2 heavy weapons in the CCS? I see no restriction here akin to "only two veterans may be upgraded to a heavy weapons team"

What it says is this:

"Two other Veterans may form a veteran weapons team" Since the CCS comes with four Veterans, wouldnt this mean 2x2, so you can have upto 2 VWTs?

Nope. That's just 2 not 4 veterans that can form a HWT. Sorry.
