I normally vs a Skaven army with my High Elves and every time there's the same problem... The Doomwheel. I am really looking for some tips on how to defeat it as it is a real pain when it kills loads of my units. If you could suggest what to do to defeat it and what models I would need, that would be great, thanks!

Bolt Thrower it with the big bolt. Rail road it with eagles. Hit it with lore of metal. You have plenty of options.

Trade rules: lower rep trades ships 1st. - I ship within 2 business days, if it will be longer I will contact you & explain. - I will NOT lie on customs forms, it's a felony, do not ask me to mark sales as "gifts". Free shipping applies to contiguous US states.

White Lions should take it apart in short order.

I feel your pain bro ! My most often opponent is Skaven as well. That said, we have tons of options, though lots of them come with cons.

1) White lions will eat a doomwheel for breakfast. Cons: your opponent will almost certainly try to intercept them with cheap slaves, and reposition his DW. Also, if your opponent plays lots of clanrats and slaves, it can be tempting to take sword masters for the increased attack output (or , at least, i think so), and they compete with lions for a spot in the list.

2) Lore of metal: Also eats doomwheels. Cons: Its an awesome lore, so not many, that said, there aren't a ton of tasty super low armor saves for the lore, and this means you're not taking high or life. Still, very viable.

3) Bolt thrower: Fairly good suggestion, though things like the storm banner, distance, etc, can impede the shot to less than 50% hit, and wounding is not necessarily automatic. It also might take a couple shots that both land and wound.

4) Eagles are a good option to slow down a doomwheel... my opponent usually runs 2+, and i find that eagles slow it down, but end up getting mulched in the long run.

I find there's no silver bullet to doomwheels, i usually have to focus fire a lot of hate at them to make them go down, and it's rarely a one turn ordeal. That said, you can mire the doomwheel down. Small-ish unit of Phoenix Guard with a wizard rocking Life lore = Snicker's commercial for a Doomwheel - not going anywhere for a while. I sometimes utilize a Kitteh Wagon (aka: White Lion chariot) for a flank charge while a small unit with a ward of some sort (whether its regen from life, or pg's inherit ward, etc) and try to get the wheel to lose combat and break while minimizing damage my units take.

Lots of methods of taking them down, but no silver bullet - use a combination of tactics and they usually end up folding over a turn or two.

The most reliable way to deal with wheels is to railroad them and shoot them with bolt throwers. One wound and they go out of control.

Railroading only works if your area plays Random movement this way
Lots of areas play it that you can still smash into the railroader, because
1) RAW is unclear
2) railroading doesn't make any logical sense

Spirit Leech works well against Doomwheels, and Death is very good against Skaven in general

As to going out of control, you obviously don't play WHFB on a regular basis TDA, it only goes out of control on a roll of 1 (and then it's often not that bad for the Skaven player)

With Random movement, the BRB literally tells you that you cannot go within 1" of an enemy unit unless it's a charge. And the pivot does not allow a random mover to charge. Only the straight line does. If you cannot physically pivot, then you are forced to move in a straight line.

As for the Loss of control, I hadn't checked my skaven book in a while, and misread it.

If by that, you mean I post rules, and people try to cherrypick which parts of said rules to follow, then yes, it's a stubbornness contest, but argue actual rules, and we'll get somewhere.

Well, the match went much better than it normally does. My Lion Chariot took a wound off it and using the lore of metal to give my sisters of Averlorn armour piecing also took a wound off it although I only managed to do this in the last turn as he kept on dispelling it! I fired the bolt thrower bolts at it a couple of times but the Doomwheel was behind heavy cover so I didn't really manage to actually hit it. Still, this is the best I have ever done against it and I am going to use White Lions and Eagles next time to see if I can take it down.

shoot it, or moaneuver so he moves his doom wheel near his own units, then shoot it.

I'll never be able to repay CA for making GW realize that The Old World was a cash cow, left to die in a field.
