Its pretty forgiving with what you can play. There's certainly better units but theres not as much polarity in many other games.

The main thing is really just having enough orders so you can do stuff effectively, so I'd really just look to try fitting more guys in. As AD models like the hellcat start off the board its better to not include them in your initial count, so for general sake I go with 8+. In this case 8 plus an AD guy so 9 total its looking like.

For a starter you would be better served getting 2 moderators instead of the wildcat. Moderators are crap, but they give you cheap orders. Wildcats are also pretty crap but expensive, so you could do without.

I would look to take a tomcat doctor over the paramedic hellcat. A) cause its cheaper and B)s a bit long. The hellcat paramedic is definitely good and potentially game changing in ways the tomcat can't be with regards to dropping on objectives, behind guys etc. However its quite risky and a substantial points investment at this level. In addition once landed the hellcat is limited due to its slow movement. OTOH the tomcat has a more diverse repitoire of weaponry which features more use than the hellcats I've found and it is a very mobile unit. This makes it quite flexible when its landed, and actually viable to deploy on the ground from the start. Unlike the hellcat. With the exception of the 20pt boarding shotgun load out, I tend to leave hellcats for higher points levels and take the toms at lower ones.

The brigada Lt is okay. Some don't like that style of Lt, but its fine.

The prowler and sineater are tricky as they're both certainly good, but very expensive. I would suggest swapping the spitfire prowler for the combi rifle, flamer and adhl variant. Its cheaper and has a very diverse bag of tricks. All the prowler loadouts are decent but this is my preference.

It you aren't looking to do scenarios with objectives at the start there isn't much need for specialists like forward observers. If you are looking to do them you'll need more specialists than what you currently have as well (2).

Here's an option
Prowler - combi, LFT ADHL 32, .5
Mobile Brig. - multi 43
Tomcat - doctor 22
Zero - 18
Zero- FO 21
Sineater - HMG 34, 2
Alguacils - 10
Alguacils - 10
Alguacils - 10

Has your 8 guys on the ground plus AD reserve. It doesn't use all the swc but I wouldn't worry too much about that. Full swc doesn't necessarily mean better, just ask Haqqislam. Also in this case it leaves 4 potential Lts. The brigade and the 3 alguacils. If you ditch the FO on the zero you can take a zondbot to leave by the sineater which could be helpful. A final thing is that a lot of these models are in the icestorm set so they'd be cheaper and newer sculpts.

I'll just add I did those points values off memory so it may not be quite right. That should be 200 there but if its over just take a moderator or morlocks instead of an alguacils.

Sweet Jesus.....Wildcats are crap? dude with armour, load of BTS, very good BS, V:Courage, multiterain and in most profiles flamer is crap for you? than whats good?

Ok, first of all Blackskull I suggest going for models instead of uber-list cuz there is no list like that, You can go with Bakunin starter that has Sin-eates and zeros as well as Moderators, that ad some models you think are cool.
With 200pts 8 man list should do the trick, Infinity is all about orders and how to use them to the fullest so you dont wanna end up with AD trooper in enemy land with 1or 2 orders left

If you dont want to buy models before trying them out check for your local Warcor to set some game, they are to help with that.

Every Nomad kid want to be a Tomcat when they grow up.

I'm also confused by calling Moderators crap.

They're not one man killing machines like heavy infantry, but they're definitely worth the points you pay for them. That doesn't make them 'crap', it makes them simply worht the points your paying for them. If you're paying 10-15pts for a model, you can't expect more than for it to be a very basic LI that's mostly going to watch an approach and provide an order.

I don't like this new attitude creeping into the community of calling units out as 'crap' because they don't fit that persons playstyle or they simply expect the wrong thing from them. Very, very few units in this game are less than useful, and none are 'crap'. Situational, maybe, but 'crap' isn't something I'd apply to anything yet.

Haha, maybe I could be a bit more distinctive. By crap, I'm referring to how they'd fair in a fire fight. I take moderators all the time as they're cheap orders. But that doesn't stop them from sucking in a fire fight. Luckily, I can have other models that do the fighting. Wildcats are just average in vanilla. Sure stat wise they're decent, but I don't feel they're worth their points alone. Linked they definitely are, so they're kinda like bolts in that regard.

But that's what Moderators are for. They're order providers who can provide an ARO. If you're falling back to activating them to actually accomplish more than change the approach they're watching, somethings gone pretty wrong.

There's a distinct difference between order providers who aren't capable in a fight and order takers who are very capable in a fight. Without those order providers, your order takers aren't going to accomplish much. And without order providers, you're opponents going to have some nice, uncontested routes to your deployment zone.

... thats why I said they're crap but provide a cheap order originally...

anyway this is a bit tangential to what the OP was asking. He's looking for a starting list suggestion

That still doesn't make them crap. It just means they're not one man armies like killier units.

Just something to remember - when someone is new (like the OP), and possibly coming from a different system where 'crap' really means 'not worth taking', it's worth revising your terminology. Telling a new player line infantry are crap is a good way to ensure they don't take them, have a bad experience (due to being out-activated and probably losing) and leaving the game.
