Thanks for offering to help. Obviously that was a page I read before choosing to write a topic here. If you read it yourself you'd see it doesn't give me any information on what I'm asking

unit sergent would be included in that COC

Thanks. I'm new to The Empire and to WFB in general. Is unit sergeant a rank mentioned in the fluff then?

Anyone else know how generals are appointed for state armies? Or any other bits of information about them. Thanks

Sergeants are mentioned frequently - its really going to be like medeval Renassaince armies, with a variety of organisation - see p 38 of the current army book

Command is going to be assigned as per p32 - the Elector Count will enlist a mixture of Nobles and notables of the Empire plus some professional's - usually mercenaries.

So Chain of command is likely to be messy, very messy:

Elector Count (and Friends/Drinking buddies/advisors/Wife)
General (and Friends/Drinking buddies/advisors/Wife)
Regimental Commanders (NNobles, Relatives and children of the above, Proffessionals - Merc Captains and Veterans)
Minor Nobles and Sergeants
rank and file- State Troops are technically higher up but Mercenary or personal raqised regiments may well be far more effective on the battlefield if less easy to get to do what you want...........

I AM A MARINE PLAYER

Inquisitor Amberley Vail, Ordo Xenos

"I will admit that some Primachs like Russ or Horus could have a chance against an unarmed 12 year old novice but, a full Battle Sister??!! One to one? In close combat? Perhaps three Primarchs fighting together... but just one Primarch?" da001

That's great! Thanks for taking the time to answer. I haven't got the army book yet so it's nice to know things like this are covered in the fluff. The composition of the army is very fun and exactly as I had hoped. Now it's time to think up a suitably flawed general to lead my WIP army...
