Sergeants are mentioned frequently - its really going to be like medeval Renassaince armies, with a variety of organisation - see p 38 of the current army book
Command is going to be assigned as per p32 - the Elector Count will enlist a mixture of Nobles and notables of the Empire plus some professional's - usually mercenaries.
So Chain of command is likely to be messy, very messy:
Elector Count (and Friends/Drinking buddies/advisors/Wife)
General (and Friends/Drinking buddies/advisors/Wife)
Regimental Commanders (NNobles, Relatives and children of the above, Proffessionals - Merc Captains and Veterans)
Minor Nobles and Sergeants
rank and file- State Troops are technically higher up but Mercenary or personal raqised regiments may well be far more effective on the battlefield if less easy to get to do what you want...........
