Is this a typo? The newest Assault regiment list has the Colossus heavy mortar with Ignore Cover, so does IA vol. 1 second edition. Am I missing some update? It's really the only reason I bought two of the damned things, that and they look awesome.

If the weapon does not have the "Ignores Cover" rule, either by it being listed on the weapons profile, the models profile or due to the type of weapon it is then, No it does not ignore cover.

Regarding "typos", we have to take the rules as they are written. If the rule isn't there and it has not been Errata'd to add it then it doesn't have it.

Looking at the pdf on FW's site (http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/Downloads/Product/PDF/d/dkksiegelist.pdf) it does NOT look like the Colossus seige mortar includes the ignores cover special rule.

I think his question is which rules to use.

The most recent actual rule book (not just an army list) containing that model is IA1(SE).

In that text, the colossus clearly has ignores cover.

Does this army list invalidate that entry? If so, only for that army list? What about army lists from IA1(SE)? Do they subscribe to this new entry?

Is there anything stopping me from using the more current rules from IA2 2nd ed in my siege list even though it's the same model?

I suppose the general question would be, can you use IA rules to overwrite your codex rules?

you can if your codex specifically allows the use of the models from the IA books.


If your using a standalone list that exists in and of itself then you cannot use differing profiles from other books for the same units.

However, if the colossus in IA:1 says it can be taken as a HS choice for DKoK seige list, then do not take the DKoK colossus, take the IA:1 colossus in your DKoK army, since permission has been given to do so.

Interesting, I didn't realise it had to explicitly state which codex/list it could be used in. If that's the case, then none of the IA vehicles are usable because it says "usable in a Codex: Imperial Guard list" which doesn'texist anymore. Sigh, so the already mediocre Siege list is that much more useless. I may as well switch to the far superior Assault Regiment that actually has proper Bombards.
