I was tinkering with a nurgle list the other day, and started wondering about some cool ways to field plague marines. The general way I take anything with power armor is ten men with all the trimmings, or MSUs in transports to keep up with a biker lord/ squad or a daemon prince. But one thing I thought was cool about the CSM codex that I never got to experiment with is the ability to take 15 or 20 models in one squad. 20 T5/3+/6+++ models camping an objective sounds cool to me, but then there is the obvious problem of getting them to the objective. A Kharybdis assault claw from the new IA13 book is an option, but that's a 260 point sink according to the experimental rules. Even without a transport, footslogging 20 of them in low point games sounds really cheesy to me.

How do you kit out plague marines?

I went to Hershey Park in central PA this year, and I have to say I was more than a little disappointed. I fully expected the entire theme park to be make entirely of chocolate, but no. Here in America, we have "building codes," and some other nonsense about chocolate melting if don't store it someplace kept below room temperature.

I used 2 squads of 7 with 2 plasma guns and a champ with axe and comby shota in rhinos in 6 edition , ithink one squad was meltas on plasmas they were there to defend middle of the dield and stay on some midfield objektives while biker lord with spawns and deep striking obliliberators did theyre job presuring , I think that 5-8 are perfect number they are pretty expencive , and STAY OUT of vindecators ! ! ! ))

I tend to take two squads if ten men, both with two meltaguns in two rhinos and it always seems to work well!! Gives me the ability to open up other transports as well as having a great deal of mobility and survivability - all those saves really seem to stall my opponents out!!

I always try to keep this up to date with what projects I'm working on... but they just keep piling up

Nurgle works best in small squads in rhinos. They are tough to remove from an objective when they bunker down.

Now that being said. I have wondered what a Typhus lead squad of 20 with Cypher attached would look like. That would give you a tank with a large squad that infiltrates and has hit and run plus shrouding. Sprinkle in some small squads a spawn squad with biker lord a hell drake and oblits to taste and I think you might have an interesting center board control. Now knights and LoW might stomp you out but that is something you have to be mindful. You also would have access to tougher cultists.

That game put my faith in Khorne to the test. My table-neighbor looked at the match up and said "Here you're going to need these more than I will" and handed me a bag of Jello shots. They must have pleased Khorne because I walked out 11-2.

Now looking at another list with MORE tyrants and MORE mawlocks, I said to myself. "Oh well looks like it's time for another beer. It'll take the sting out of this. LOL"

I take plague marines in 3 different varieties. I always make them troops though for the ObjSec.
*4 men+champ with 2 special weapons (plasma or melta), the champ with either a combi (plasma or melta to match unit) and melta bombs or a powerfist. This unit rides in a rhino.
*7 men+champ with 2 special weapons (plasma or melta), the champ with either a combi (plasma or melta to match unit) and melta bombs or a powerfist. This unit either walks or rides with a big nasty HQ in a landraider.
*19 men+champ w/ 2 melta and powerfist on champ. This unit will be infiltrated and usually has a big nasty to split off and charge something. This is definitely the least effective of the three but it can be pretty amusing with cypher in it.
