I’d be worried about the auto-loss if you don’t have anything on the table at the end of the first turn. If you go first, all you have is 5 guys and a pod. Sure, you might be able to drop them somewhere obscure, but against another mobile army they could be hunted down.

um... it looks cool but youre only going to have a MotF, a 5 man tact squad, and a DP on the board... i think you might tend to get tabled A LOT... why not drop a LotD for some home OBJ scouts...

Good suggestions. Its easy to swap a LoTD for another tac squad and drop pod. That would be 2 pods coming in on turn one.

I might even have left over points for a bare bone inquisitor who can hide in a ruin.

Have you considered moving some of your Stormtalons and Stormravens into a Storm Wing formation? It would give the Strafing Run USR to the Stormraven if one of the formation's Stormtalons is still alive.

I second the idea of using Scouts for an additional footprint. If this was a "USAF" style, they could be the JTACs to call in an air strike.

Why scouts over a normal squad of marines? Infiltrate vs 3+ armor save.

If I have 2 CADs this is a good idea. It would also open up something like Cents if I wanted to go that route instead of LotD.

any thoughts on a comm relay to help your chances of reserve rolls?

I second this, and an ADL it will give your unit manning the comms relay a 2+ cover save if they go to ground.

Scouts are better than TACs in DPs for surviving the first round as they can infiltrate into the hardest parts of the board to reach after your opponent has set up. If they go to ground in ruins, they will also get 2+ cover save making them very hard to kill off turn one unless you opponent has template weapons up to the eyeballs & in range. Cost wise you also get two units for each TAC you drop, and having your guys spread out will further improve their survivability.

You could also consider a Sky shield Landing Pads with ready for take off upgrade so one of your flyers starts firs turn, but he will be a magnet for enemy fire.

What is MotF doing? If he is not riding in a stormraven repairing as it goes, I would drop him for a Libby.

If in doubt, frag it out...

There's an Ultramarine Detachment you might be interested in looking at. I can't remember its name, but it consists of Chaplain Cassius, 1 unit of Tyrannic War Veterans (min size 4, Sternguards with only the 2+ ammo, and PE against Nids), and 0-5 (or 6) Stormtalons.

The Stormtalons not only get to deploy on the table, but they also get Infiltrate.

I am going to be running a similar list. I will echo other peoples sentiment of getting in a comms relay or grabbing Tiggy.

So why the MoF? I am not seeing him bring anything to this list. A cheaper Libby would do just as much or more.

As much as I like the LotD, I am thinking Sternguard in the Ravens would mean you get all your reserves in on only 3 rolls. Talon on escort, Sterns in the Raven, and only have to roll for the Raven.
