So I've got about half of this guy done. Some mistakes were made but I'm happy for the opportunity to learn and fix them. Infantry should be here tomorrow and I'll get cracking on that soon enough.







I've been slowly getting back into 40k and figured I would start out painting a Drop Pod that I had. I've been enjoying it so far; the only thing I'm not liking that I will leave off the rest of the army is the weathering, it just doesn't suit me. I like the look of a clean army. I'm looking forward to getting more of this done.

Looks great! If you want some weathering but want to keep it looking clean, drybrush some brown on the bottom rim of your pod to simulate it DSing into the earth. It doesn't have to be huge, but it adds a cool effect to it

Looking good. Can I ask what colours you used to achieve that grey?

I start with Vallejo black surface primer, them go to Abadon black mixed with ballyhoo l Vallejo game color shadow Grey, then straight shadow Grey, them mix a bit of Vallejo game color Wolf Grey, and finally just edge highlight with straight Vallejo Wolf Grey.

while i like the overall paintjob very much i dislike the streaks.. streaks are most of the time vertical

I don't like them either. I sealed them in on one of the doors so I rode that one out; the next ones won't have that.

Dude, that looks great. And I get not necessarily wanting to do weathering on all your stuff, but you did a great job of it there. I personally leave it off infantry, but on vehicles it's kind of a must for me.

Are you using an airbrush then using a regular brush for edge highlighting? Reason I ask is there are a lot of nifty weathering effects you can achieve with a lot less work utilizing an airbrush.
