Hi there guys,

I'm currently trying to puzzle out if it's a good idea or not to put together a necron list with a warrior blob, a squad of tesla immortals and then as many warscythe users as possible.

My main issue is getting the buggers across the map without being farted off the table as they slog and I'm inexperienced with flyers and such.

So any help you guys could give would be wonderful.

1000-1500 pts BTW

A melee centric necron list is gonna have a hard time, I'm afraid. The suckers are just so slowwwww.

I feel like the man mode option is this:

Two war scythe wielding overlords. One in a pimp throne, One rocking 2+ 3++ armor. Each one has a tachyon arrow.

Then your blob, your immortals, whatever.

Then a unit of Lychguard paired with the Beeflord, and a veil Cryptek.

Any remaining points go to Annie barges

Then you bring all guns and the tachyons to bear turn 1 against anything that has a particularly threatening AP3 weapon. Whenever there isn't something just waiting to blow them away, teleport your scythe squad across the board.

DONE.

"Got you, Yugi! Your Rubric Marines can't fall back because I have declared the tertiary kaptaris ka'tah stance two, after the secondary dacatarai ka'tah last turn!"

"So you think, Kaiba! I declared my Thousand Sons the cult of Duplicity, which means all my psykers have access to the Sorcerous Facade power! Furthermore I will spend 8 Cabal Points to invoke Cabbalistic Focus, causing the rubrics to appear behind your custodes! The Vengeance for the Wronged and Sorcerous Fullisade stratagems along with the Malefic Maelstrom infernal pact evoked earlier in the command phase allows me to double their firepower, letting me wound on 2s and 3s!"

"you think it is you who has gotten me, yugi, but it is I who have gotten you! I declare the ever-vigilant stratagem to attack your rubrics with my custodes' ranged weapons, which with the new codex are now DAMAGE 2!!"

"...which leads you straight into my trap, Kaiba, you see I now declare the stratagem Implacable Automata, reducing all damage from your attacks by 1 and triggering my All is Dust special rule!"

Not the best, but not too shabby either. The Ghost arks are Open topped so you can assault out of them, and the opponent will be having to deal with the two CCBs, leaving your 3 assault units with less focused on them. 4 Anni barges for fire support.
Got 12 warscythes.

There are FAR better necron builds though.

Between

Hmm... Close-combat Necrons... I played around with a similar army once. Updating it to be 'Warscythe based' rather than just 'CC based' and I get...

Created with BattleScribe

Anrakyr joins the Lychguard, as do a Harbinger of Despair and a Lord with Res Orb.

Obyron joins the Pyrrean Eternals, along with a Lord and a Lord with Res Orb.

Zahndreck joins the Immortals, along with a Harbinger of Despair and a Lord with a Labyrinth.

All three units can now deep strike around the board at will, have good Overwatch potential, and can shoot and assault if they have ranged weapons. In addition, two of them have Furious Charge and Counter-Attack, and the third has one or the other due to Zahndrek's Adaptive Tactics. All are ressurecting on a 4+ as well.

Zahndrek's is the tankiest unit because of his Phase Shifter, but all of them have at least two models with a 2+ save, and nothing has worse than a 3+. The lack of Gauss is offset by the sheer number of warscythes in the army.

Of course, it's 39 models at 1750 points and relies on Deep Striking for mobility, but that's not the end of the world.

Trying to spam Warscythes doesn't usually work out. Court Deathstar is fun as hell, no denying that, but is so points heavy you just wonder why you bother.

The closest you could get with that is similar to the above list, with a full Lychguard squad with an Orb Lord inside.
