Hey kiddos,

I moved up to NYC a bit ago for "life changes" and I'm planning on getting my arse up to Rochester for Da Boyz GT next month. The only army for which I have anything on hand here is Sisters of Battle, so it seems like that's what I'll be taking! To that end, I of course need to try and brainstorm a list which will at least allow me to "acquit myself admirably." Or whatever.

For folks not entirely familiar with Da Boyz and the rules for the 40k GT up there, linky linky! Read up before commenting, please.

On to the list(s). I have a very 6th-ish limited set of detachments with which to play here, so I have one list with a Culexis Assassin (anti-psyker/super kewl) and one list with an Imperial Knight (general face stomping). I am very saddened at not being able to take both at the same time, but... oh well. I have choices to make, then, and tough ones.

Also, in the first (Assassin-inclusive) list, you'll see I have put in a super sister horde unit of 20 Battle Sisters (BS) with flamers + Celestine + Uriah + 3 Priests. I have used the unit a few times and each time it was fracking fantastic. But, that was all in 6th, and never against a Knight, so... you do the mental math, there. I'm not certain about the unit. I just know I kinda love it.

Any questions about the units and their purpose, or strategy, or of course usual commentary, go right ahead. That's why I'm posting!

List Option #1-- "Assassin Inclusive"

PRIMARY DETACHMENT

HQ: Saint Celestine= 135
HQ: Uriah Jacobus= 100
HQ: Ministorum Priest (Power Maul, Litanies of Faith)= 55
HQ: Ministorum Priest (Power Maul)= 40

XX-HQ: Ministorum Priest (Power Maul)= 40-XX [Realized this may be an illegal choice as a 3rd Priest, whoops!]

TROOPS: 5 BS (2 Flamers) in Immolator (TLMM)= 130
TROOPS: 5 BS (2 Flamers) in Immolator (TLMM)= 130
TROOPS: 9 BS (2 Flamers) + Superior (Combi-Flamer, Melta Bombs) in Rhino= 185
TROOPS: 9 BS (2 Flamers) + Superior (Combi-Flamer, Melta Bombs) in Rhino= 185
TROOPS: 19 BS (2 Flamers, Simulacrum) + Superior (Combi-Flamer, Melta Bombs)= 275

FA: 5 Dominion BS (4 Meltaguns, Simulacrum) in Immolator (TLMM)= 175

HS: Exorcist= 125
HS: Exorcist= 125

ALLIED DETACHMENT

ELITES: Culexis Assassin= 140

Army Total: 1,840pts

This list, in any case, needs some work. For instance, as I typed it out, I realized that my 3rd Priest is illegal, meaning I have 50 points of play. What for? No gosh darn clue.

Ah well.

List Option #1-- "Knight Inclusive"

PRIMARY DETACHMENT

HQ: Canoness (Litanies of Faith, Melta Bombs)= 85

TROOPS: 10 BS (2 Flamers) in Rhino= 170
TROOPS: 10 BS (2 Flamers) in Rhino= 170
TROOPS: 10 BS (2 Flamers) in Rhino= 170
TROOPS: 5 BS (2 Flamers) in Immolator (TLMM)= 130

FA: 5 Dominion BS (4 Meltaguns) in Immolator (TLMM)= 165
FA: 5 Dominion BS (4 Meltaguns) in Immolator (TLMM)= 165

HS: Exorcist= 125
HS: Exorcist= 125
HS: 10 Retributor BS (4 Heavy Bolters, Simulacrum)= 170

ALLIED DETACHMENT

???: Knight Paladin= 375

Army Total: 1,850pts

I think I do like the general "structure" or look of the second list a bit better. But, I kinda really really really wanna play with that assassin. And without him, a) the Knight becomes the unbearably obvious choice as my Ally, and b) I am left completely out in the open if someone shows up ready to fight in the Psychic Phase. Which seems... likely? I have no access to Imperial Guard/Astra Militarum, so they're right out the window, unfortunately. Also, I do not happen to own a Forge World Avenger Strike Fighter, so my AA options include.... Ugh.

I am looking for a way to possibly acquire an Avenger Strike Fighter, but in the meantime, snap-firing Exorcists and Retributors are my primary AA assets, and look set to remain so.

Thanks in advance for your commentary! (Please!? Hehe.) I'll go ahead and make a 3rd list now, an Assassin Inclusive list that is also "tournament legal."

Hooray for responses! Glad I posted this.

Oh well.

I remade the Assassin list into something legal, here goes:

TROOPS: 19 BS (2 Flamers, Simulacrum) + Superior (Melta Bombs)= 265

I personally like the second list better. I think the knight adds some aggression that needs to be dealt with and that will help you a lot.

You are suffering as you cant kill flyers.

Maybe an allied marine detachment or something?

Yeah, the Knight is just.... such a serious option. I dunno. There is really nothing bad about taking him!

But, I cannot take a Marine detachment and a Knight as well. That's the biggest dilemma for the list, really: Knight, or allied support?

Still hunting for an ASF.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Okay, so, this is an "if I can find an Avenger Strike Fighter in time" list, but anyway, here's a Knight list with the ASF included.

PRIMARY DETACHMENT

HQ: Saint Celestine= 135

TROOPS: 5 BS (2 Flamers) in Immolator (TLMM)= 130
TROOPS: 5 BS (2 Flamers) in Immolator (TLMM)= 130
TROOPS: 5 BS (2 Flamers) in Immolator (TLMM)= 130
TROOPS: 20 BS (2 Flamers, Simulacrum)= 260

FA: 5 Dominion BS (4 Meltaguns) in Rhino= 145
FA: 5 Dominion BS (4 Meltaguns) in Rhino= 145

HS: Exorcist= 125
HS: Exorcist= 125
HS: Avenger Strike Fighter= 150

ALLIED DETACHMENT

???: Imperial Knight Paladin= 375

Army Total: 1,850pts

Look solid, sorta? I find myself already wishing I had more scoring units.

There may not be a lot you can do about the scoring unit problem. Basically, you could split up the big unit and dump the points into smaller BSS units.... but then your missing out on the big unit of immovable sisters... and you also have no way of granting them mobility unless you have repressors laying around somewhere.

Alternately, you could try to find some type of ally other than the knight to dump into objective secured type units. I don't like that option because the knight is such a magnet for firepower that it will give the rest of your army lots of time to kill stuff. A couple marine units in drop pods would go a long way though. Maybe salamanders with melta, fit the theme and all.

Going with the "Knight Inclusive" list, why not cut out that 5-sister squad and replace it with an assassin? It would certainly help diverting some focus from the Knight.

If you're going to run a blob squad, I'd find te points for some priests...

The rules set he is playing only allows models from 2 sources so he can't take a knight and an assassin.
