I recently saw a screaming between 2 people arguing whether or not purchased fortifications could hold an objective.
Then just this weekend I had someone insisting his aquilla fortress counted as holding an objective. I gave it to him just cuz I didn't have the energy to argue and search for an hour (won anyways lol)
So does anyone know if they can or can't? Or is it only certain fortifications that can?

The second there are no units in the fortification or within the claim objective area of it. It becomes neutral and any player can run up and claim it and control the fortification. With that said technically on the fortification it self will fire automated at the opposing player until they gain control of it by moving inside of it.

Why post if you haven't read the relevant rules? Thus is not correct at all. Read Page 112 under "Claiming Buildings" it contains both the answer to your question and the evidence if you see an argument on the subject again.

Yep read it still has no bearing on ob sec though. What formation allows fortifications to get ob sec? Or buildings for that matter?

They don't need ob sec to hold objectives.

ob sec is super-scoring, in that it trumps those without ob sec, but any unit can score and hold objectives now, unless they have a special rule saying they can never do so (like death company)

Automatically Appended Next Post:
And before anyone gets on the 'but buildings aren't units' argument, buildings you buy as part of your army are.

At the start of the game, all buildings that were taken as part of a player’s army are ‘claimed’ by the owning player, whilst all other buildings are ‘unclaimed’.
• A claimed building is a unit in the controlling player’s army and will remain so, even if it later becomes unoccupied, until the building is either destroyed or claimed by an enemy.

and they have a specific Rule stating that they can.

Who said it had any baring on ObSec? If you read it why did you claim buildings stopped being claimed the minute your unit left them? Why that lie if you read it?
