Hey!
I'm a long time ork player recently switching to space wolves since getting back into 40k.
I can't seem to balance my army very well. I tend to either have too few models, and lack the ability to cope with situations, or too many! I wanted to include 6 thunder wolf cavalry in my army with a thunderwolf lord, with a couple of venerable dreads in pods. Maybe the flying transport. Am I best off filling the gap with blood claws or grey hunters??
With orks you can pile so much stuff into a list it really doesn't matter :/ Automatically Appended Next Post: Oh and does anyone ever use skyclaws, assault marines, storm boys, etc? Or are they a bit redundant?

You look like you're building a pretty cc heavy list, I would say stick blood claws in the flier and go to town.

"Got you, Yugi! Your Rubric Marines can't fall back because I have declared the tertiary kaptaris ka'tah stance two, after the secondary dacatarai ka'tah last turn!"
"So you think, Kaiba! I declared my Thousand Sons the cult of Duplicity, which means all my psykers have access to the Sorcerous Facade power! Furthermore I will spend 8 Cabal Points to invoke Cabbalistic Focus, causing the rubrics to appear behind your custodes! The Vengeance for the Wronged and Sorcerous Fullisade stratagems along with the Malefic Maelstrom infernal pact evoked earlier in the command phase allows me to double their firepower, letting me wound on 2s and 3s!"
"you think it is you who has gotten me, yugi, but it is I who have gotten you! I declare the ever-vigilant stratagem to attack your rubrics with my custodes' ranged weapons, which with the new codex are now DAMAGE 2!!"
"...which leads you straight into my trap, Kaiba, you see I now declare the stratagem Implacable Automata, reducing all damage from your attacks by 1 and triggering my All is Dust special rule!" |

So long as you can do the following, the army list is generally balanced:
Kill normal infantry
Kill elite infantry/monsters
Kill tanks
Kill/ignore fliers
That's really all there is to it. From there it's tactics and dice. I personally use raptors and possessed with my CSM and they do fine.

Well my idea was to have the grey hunters to deal with general troops... but the dreads and drop pods would lead the frontal assault.
Drop the dreads in with the shields and axes, soak up some fire while my thunderwolf cav moved up and smash face!
Can the storm fang carry two squads of 8?
Like I said with orks you can cram everything in!
