I'm new to WH40k and only have 1 game under my belt but I am wanting to paint my Black Templar army. I'm curious what other paints I would need that I may look over. I want to use Citadel Paints and I have Abbadon Black base and White Scars layer in my cart but I can't think of what else I will need. Pointers would help

Probably a silver of sorts, a gold of sorts, a red of sorts, and a bone color. Those will get you some variance in your minis.

Mixing in some metal colors are nice. Black Templars tend to get scratched up as they (by canon at least) love going hand to hand.

Remember, black is actually tricky to paint well. It's not just using pure black for everything.

Here's a good tutorial on painting BTs. Good luck!

i use black, white, cream, red, grey, lead-belcher (idk what to call that color? dark silver?) and some gold.

black armor, white solder pads with black limning for tac/dev, red for assult, gold for HQ/vet. cream is for there script paper and all the seals. "dark silver" on the chains, guns, grills and swords. some people do the chest bit in gold or white/ grey, i do dark grey to white on 90% of my BT and gold on HQ or comand squads.

If you want U can PM me and ill toss some pics ur way!
