Playing against that pesky Tau player who spams Fusion deepstrikers?
Here is my solution.

STEP 1.
Make a list. Since you are playing Tau, spam as much AV14 as possible. I use 6 Leman Russ tanks in 1500 point games.
STEP 2.
Get 65-75 Guardsmen together. Put 10 to the side, and move 5 and 10 away. These will be your Veteran, Platoon Command, and Platoon Infantry squads. The rest of the Guardsmen are Conscripts.
STEP 3.
Deploy your Conscripts 2" away from each other. Measure them out so it is impossible for any unit to deepstrike. Block off the area within 10" of each of your tanks using this. If done properly, that pesky Tau scrub will not be able to get into Melta range with anything!

Peregrine - If you like the army buy it, and don't worry about what one random person on the internet thinks.

You don't need that many guardsmen since because you can almost a 3.5" gap (acutally its probably like 5" at least because they'll be deep striking more then a single 40mm model) between models and crisis suits won't be able to fit without mishapping

Though your infantry needs to survive until at least turn 2 to actually stop the deep strike

i have the same problem. this is similar to my solution. i run 4 vet squads in chimeras and 4 leman russes with 2 valks and a manticore. my idea to counter was to deploy all the vets outside the chimeras, bubble wrap the tanks, and use the chimeras as objective grabbers.

last game i got murdered with keeping my vets in their chimeras. turn 1 he popped them all (they were all spread out). turn 2 he started popping all the LR with his deep strike solo battle suits with meltaguns.

since then, i rethought my strategy and came up with the above. it's the only way.

Use conscripts/IS for bubblewrap, not melta veterans.
