Hi all,

I just played my first fame of LOTR last night and thought it was great. I was wondring if the rules differ for the Hobbit or does it all work the same and is it compatable etc.

Thanks

Glad you enjoyed the game!

All the profiles, rules and minis for The Hobbit and LOTR are 100% compatible, so if you want you could have an Hunter Orc army led by Azog facing off against Eomer's Rohirrim, or Thorin's Dwarves against the Nazgul.

The Hobbit core rules differ slightly to the LOTR ones in the following ways:
- There is a penalty for moving and firing Ranged Weapons now.
- There are rules for the different Hand Weapons, so a sword, mace, axe or hammer all have 'special attacks' they can perform in place of normal attacks.
- Monsters now have Special Attacks that make them much more dangerous.

It's worth checking which version you'll be using if you're entering an established group, as some people, including myself, basically use the old Big Blue Book as the definitive version. Apart from the changes listed above, the two are almost identical.
