Buying things that look cool is the best way to start, IMO. it gets to enthused about the game, and since the game is phenomenally balanced, you're not buying dud units.

I'm no Yu Jing expert, but that looks like a great selection of stuff to start with. Variety is always good in this game - personally speaking, I don't think I've ever run the same list twice.

There are no wrong answers in Infinity. Pick what looks cool.

While they are singing "what a friend we have in the greater good", we are bringing the pain!

Yep, pretty much everyone here is pro starting that exact way. Now: Paint it, play it, love it, buy more.

Yuriko, Guilang and Celestial Guard Hacker would be recommended purchases. You'll need a hacker to include REM. Popular picks besides those are also Celestial Guard with smoke LGL, Daofei and Kuang Shi.

The problem I have found is stopping buying figs that look cool. There are so many.

You're fine with what you have - it's more than enough. Assemble the remotes as a forward observer and as a total reaction HMG. they'll be 90% of what you use them for.

Second - use the celestial guard from the vanilla starter as a hacker, he's got a wierd hand and decent WIP.

The O-Yuri Kidbutai (the TAG) is pretty cool - if you end up going JSA he can be your LT (and if you have a TAG you don't need a hacker for remotes)

At the moment you might be better off running JSA since you have 2 domaru (the white samurai guys) a little proxying of the kempetai as an engineer and you have a decent 300point 10 order ITS list:

Yu Jing - Japanese Sectorial Army | 10 models

Hmmm, well not to dampen your enthusiasm... The only way to get the "wrong" minis is to buy stuff you don't like.

Play a few games with what you now have, and feel free to treat them as proxies to see what else is possible. Then add to your collection accordingly...

It is really very easy...

...Way too easy...
