I live in Concord nc. I'm fairly new to wh40k and still looking for people to play with. I had one friend who played but they were recently deployed. And the local game shop is very close knit and a little intimidating for a new player. Just wondering if this'll help any.

See if your local game shops has any beginner sessions you could attend. If so, you'll find people in the same boat as you and staff are generally friendly to newcomers and help you wherever they can

Just go to your FLGS. All wargamers are huge nerds at heart, you already have a thing in common & everyone loves a new opponent. What´s the worst thing that could happen? If you can´t bond to em just leave em and everything is how it was before, if you can bond you´ll have a lot of new buddies to be nerdy with.

Yup. Go to your gameshop, look for people playing 40k, tell them you are looking for players to play with, and if they know any people who would like to play. I seriously doubt they will turn you away. If they do, they're total jerks anyway so who cares.

Plus, if it's really nerve-wracking, you can always just go and watch people play. You can probably learn something about the kind of people you want to get involved with, or find out if there's a structured thing like a league you can be a part of that will sort of handle all that pre-game stuff for you. That can take a lot of the pressure off.

Also, it can help if you lower your expectations. Your first few games should be about playing a few games, more than instantly forming life-long friendships. Hang aroung long enough, and friends will be made, but stay at home due to being intimidated about making friends, and they won't.

I just moved from Raleigh NC this summer, people are very friendly down there. I would suggest going to your FLGS, usually people are glad to see newcomers.

“Games Workshop has had a really good year.
If your measure of 'good' is the current financial year's numbers, you may not agree. But if your measure is
the long-term survivability of a great cash generating business that still has a lot of potential growth, then you
will agree.”
