Erm, well... I posted the question in the title. Thinking of picking up either Cortez or power sword and bolt pistol guy.

How much would they add to an AM army with DA ravenwing allies?

Inquisitor Corteaz is an incredible backfield asset to protect your heavy weapons from Deep Strike units with a full turn of shooting for every one in 12" of him with the unit he is in. Plus access to Divination.

Acolytes can grab cheap Plasma in old style Chimera rules so three Plasma acolytes shooting out of a Chkmera with S6 Heavy Bolters. Cheaper Valkyrie, guides to Deep Strike, very cheap Psyker charges.

Fun to play with some crusader squads who are willing to take the blast.

You should probably start by looking at the codex and his rules.

He has a blast attack that does not scatter if the target is a friendly unit. Which is why people recommend using crusaders (which have a 3++ to hopefully survive it).

Or conscripts.

In answer to the OP. The Inquisition dex is absolutely excellent. The inquisitors themselves buff any IoM squad to a high degree for peanuts. The henchmen squads are incredibly good for their points and insanely versitile. Whilst the razorbacks and chimeras have better rules and are cheaper than any other dex. The LR crusader with psybolts is a landraider completely worth its points, even when not transporting.

Sounds like I may pick up some crusaders or Arco-flagellents soon!

That's it...just reminded me to pull my Inquisitorial Crusaders out...

Put 12 with Stern, under 200 pts and they have a 2++

I've recently added an Inquisitorial element to my IG army.

The Inquisitor himself uses a Conversion beamer and sits on top of my Fortress of Redemption, sniping enemies. He's not particularly useful, but he opens up the Inquisition Attachment.

Now, the real utility of the Inquisition though, is in how you fit and use the henchmen - I personally have 12 Acolytes with Bolters in a Dedicated Valkyrie to grab objectives or harass enemy units and flyers. It's cheap and effective.

Really, the Inquisition detachment can fill holes in your roster and the henchmen can be customized to almost fill any role.

I personally find death cult assassins far better than both. 4 (on the charge) st4 ap3 attacks on the charge, at I6 with WS5. Rerolling to hit and probably wound if a priest is present. With opponents at -1t if rad granade inquisitor is with them. 5 of these in a squad and their 20 attacks will gut almost anyone. 6 wound sponge acolytes and their 5++ gives them a bit more durability.

With 1A base they really need the buffs a priest brings. Why not take 11 and a priest?

So, are AF good for tar pitting?

A full squad has 12 t3 wounds with no save. They have a high number of high strength no ap attacks but are one of the most vulnerable of henchmen. I wouldn't use them to tarpit.

Arco Flaggelants are currently not good. They used to be okay with 5th Ed GK Libbies...but now they just can't handle anything well.

Crusaders are good for living...Death Cult are good for damage. So mix those...and take some acolytes if you want.

In 6th I had a mixed crusader/dca/gunslinger acolyte squad charge 30 boyz and win. <-A good day

Because I forgot they existed...

Interestingly enough the inquisition units are some of the best melee units in the game right now. The combo of Inq grenades, hammer hand, crusaders, priests, and death cult assassins has tremendous damage output.

So, this is what I should be getting:

Inquisitor with bolt pistol and power sword
Jokearo
2 Crusaders
2 Death Cult Assasins

How should I use these guys?

If you're taking a single jokaero, then taking those models alongside warrior acolytes is definitely worth it. All with guns that you can assault with.

Jokearo is better in a shooting squad, right now you got no ranged units besides the jokearo and Inq, so toss in some acolytes if you want to go that route. Otherwise max out on DCAand Crusaders.

So, i'll pick up one or two acolytes and some more crusaders as a meatshield. Stick the whole squad of six/seven in either a METAL BAWKES or a Chimera and just whizz around putting pressure on stuff. Sound good?

I wouldn't say there are no other shooting units aside jokearo.
There are servitors for dirt cheap (10pt hbs/20pt plasmacannons), acolytes with access to boltguns, storm bolters and 3x plasma/melta/flamer, razorbacks with 4 tl bs4 st7 ap4 rending shots for just 70pts, chimeras with 6 st6 ap6 shots and 3 person firepoints for 60pts. Landraider crusaders with 12 tl st5 ap5, 4 tl st7 ap4 rending and 1 mm shot (all at bs4) for 265pts.
In fact I would say point for point jokearo are one of the worst shooty choices in the dex and only theor random buff makes them worth taking. If they were bs4 it would be a different matter...

That buff, heavy flamer, and random invulnerable in a squad has saved my hide many a time.

Still, I only take one...and I hate the monkey so I counts-as with a tech priest.

I really like the Inquisitor detachment to fill a very specified mission in the army. I feel like it fills the fluff that they are there for some odd purpose and kit the team directly. My best bet has been using them as a special snowflake murder team where I hunt your crazy HQ with a xenos team. After they soften the HQ I send in everything else to kill it (while using my army to grab objectives and counter the rest of the bs). I feel like they are an excellent addition to my SM.

My inquisitor has some fluff that i may or may not be posting in dakka fiction. Nonetheless my idea was to have them in either a vendetta or a chimera and use them to either harass or assassinate. sound good?

No mention of servo skulls? Really?

OP: if you don't know what these are then look them up. This is why many players take inquisitors.
