Okay, maybe the not the knights you were expecting.
(I may have posted some of these before here on Dakka but since I’ll be posting new knights soon I’d rather have them all in one page.)
So I've been working on my Lannister army now, and will be using
KoW rules. I'm a huge fan of the A Song of Ice and Fire universe, and since I've laid eyes on the Perry War of the Roses plastics, I've always wanted to turn them into a Lannister force.
Please excuse the quality: the minis here will not be on par of what I usually paint, since I want to produce them fast but still very presentable. Still trying to learn speed painting, and the "speed" in my speed painting needs more, uh, speed.
I used Perry minis for these. Didn't bother mixing it with other kits since I also want to use them for alternate historical War of the Roses. I may add shields on them later on to better show the sigils of their respective houses, but they will do for now.
I started assembling the cavalry last December and I still haven't finished painting them. And to think I have more boxes to paint for the Lannister infantry and stuff. I really need to learn how to paintfaster--even if these are a bit of a lower quality than most of my paintjobs, I still can't churn them out fast enough.
The guy above is the Deckard Hill, the bastard of Lannisport. And before anything else yes, I make back stories for my miniatures, and yes it's super nerdy. His gold armor reflects his bastard status: he's a Lannister bastard so that means he has to wear the reverse colors of his house--in this case it would be a red lion on a gold field. I made him ride a black horse to serve as a good contrast to his gold armor.
Next is Damion Lannister, the Castellan of Casterly Rock. He's an actual character in the books, but have only been mentioned in passing. I wasn't planning on making him a Lannister at first, but his slightly bored, haughty expression just screams Lannister to me.
On top is Lymon Vikary of House Vikary, a landed knight. I want him to look like he's chasing a fleeing soldier with his warhammer, thus the pose. House Vikary is one of the houses I find very interesting—it is theorized that the founder of this house is a bastard of the extinct Reyne house.
The three pictures above are of Ser Benedict Broom of House Broom. Benedict Broom is the master-at-arms in Casterly Rock, shown here charging with sword drawn, ready to cut down any foe. The checkered pattern was a bit of challenge for me: I had a hard time keeping the lines straight! Felt like it went well, although I still get the urge to redo them. I might do so in the future.
So stay tuned if you're interested on how this army would develop! Also, if you have the time please feel free to check out my painting blog where I would share the progress of my armies, news, and tips and tricks on how I paint:
