As the sub says, CSM Dprince vs the Dprince straight from the daemon codex? mainly for nurgle loving. Yes wings n armor, but after that who seems to claw it's way to the top..so to speak...

The CSM one can take a spell familiar for more reliable psychic stuff. That's about all I can think of, they're pretty even.

from my experiences, and from what I've seen most people will go with the CD daemon prince. The only good thing going for the CSM daemon prince as far as i can tell is the spell familiar, and the black mace on a nurgle prince. He gets spells of reliably and with less dice, and the black mace is amazing on a MC. However as a daemon in the CSM book he has to roll at least once on his god table, thus can only have 2 rolls on the BRB psyker tables (usually biomancy for iron arm on a nurgle prince). This makes him overall have less of a chance of being more surviable.

The Chaos Daemons variant is preferred mainly because a daemon prince can get 2 rolls on the greater rewards table and 4 out of 6 of the results are very defensive in nature and thus making the prince especially durable if he gets the right rolls. The usual process is to roll twice on the greater table and switch out the lesser option for a balesword on a nurgle prince. To top that off, the Daemon princes get all 3 of their Mastery level rolls on the tables they have access to, so 3x on biomancy for example to get iron arm, endurance, etc (imo the only bad spell on that table is hemorrhage).

CSM one is, IMO objectively better for psychic stuff. They have access to better powers, as well as a Spell Familiar.

I also like being able to chose weapons from the Chaos Artifacts list rather than rolling for exalted rewards. Chaos Artifacts are more expensive than rewards, but I think you get what you pay for.

how do CSM daemon princes have access to better powers? If you are referring to the psychic tables in the CSM book, i don't think they are in any way better than the ones in the CD codex.

CSM DP: Daemon weapon, spell familiar.

CD DP: rewards, Nurgle one can get a ID weapon.

I think CSM one has the upper hand - Daemon weapons are just that good

One of the benefits of a CD Daemon Prince is that you get to roll three times on biomancy. However the equipment is random, so probably not quite so good.

Still better then CSM prince who don't get any equipment at all except for crazy expensive relics.

At least with the CSM you know what you are getting. But yes, you have a good point.

Seems like a difficult choice between'em. Blackmace is ungodly (pun intended) powerful but biomancy and the Balesword is pretty nasty too.

Csm prince also has vets so more reliable in cc against marines? I know I'd love nothing more than to smash my opponents grey knight net list with him :p

CSM DPs can get Biomancy too

True, but the god power tax is what I was talking about with CSM vs the CD version.

For Nurgle certainly a Chaos Daemons' Daemon Prince. No question about it.

Better psychic power choices and the balesword make this a no-brainer imo.

Maybe I am biased due to my aversion to wraithknights, but a poisoned ID weapon that ignores armour saves (because of being an MC) is a very nice tool to have in some matchups.
