So, I'm trying to decide how to expand my nids and first I must decide what direction to go in.. But I cant decide, Shoult I focus on shooty? Or melee? Or do a mix? If I mix, Shout I go shooty with some melee? Or melee with some shooty..? I kind of like having atleast some melee..

I find that Tyranid models are generally pretty capable in CC, even the shooty ones. With that said, magnetize your models and you can get the best of both worlds!

I kind of wanna build up my nids to Apocalypse levels (Atleast 3000 points.. XD) As for magnetising, I cant do that.. I suck at it, I can barley assemble the stuff like they are suposed to be, Drilling holes to try and stuff in magnets and stuff is out of my league.. XD

Well you'll find if you pick your battles carefully, you'll do well both in shooting and CC, Tyranids can field a lot of bodies in comparison to some armies and all those bodies lead to more dice. But if you get your Dakkafexes tied up in CC with a horde of Ork Boyz, or get your Dimachaeron surrounded by Plasma weapons, you can say bye bye very quickly.

Have a look on the Tyranids tactica page in the 40k Tactics forum, you'll find some fantastic advice there.

To me, the strength of Tyranids is a combination of good quality, short range assault weapons with a mixture of tough (MC) and numerous (gribbly) melee units.

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.

Yeah, a common list will have screening gaunts, shooty MC's, some cover generators, and a counter-assault element.

And 2 flyrants
