Something I was considering to take advantage of the new rules:

Prince
Great Weapon
Armour of Destiny
Lion Cloak
Dragonbane Gem
Moon Dragon

AS 3+, WS 4+

Dragon Mage of Caledor
Dragon Armour
Shield of the Merwyrm

AS 4+, WS 6+, PS 4+

Dragon Mage of Caledor
Dragon Armour
Enchanted Shield

AS 2+, WS 6+

10 Silver Helms
Champion
Standard Bearer
Musician
Shields

AS 2+

10 Silver Helms
Champion
Standard Bearer
Musician
Shields

AS 2+

10 Dragon Princes of Caledor
Champion
Standard Bearer
Musician
Banner of the World Dragon

AS 2+, WS 6+, WS 2+ vs magic

That leaves a little less than 400 pts to customize (with 100 of them that must be from Core). Personally, I'd add a couple of units of Ellyrian Reavers and two Great Eagles.

Sure, cannons are going to be a problem, but one can play point denial then. What do you think?

reavers would fit well with your cavalry theme.
Eagles will also be useful in this list since you have lots of mobility and it will give another target for cannons to shoot at besides your dragons. If he does nt, the eagles should make quick work of enemy cannon lines while your cavalry charges in.

The Lair of Vengeance....Poole.

Dragon Mage doesn't get the parry by the way. You cannot parry when mounted.

Other than that, it looks good. The eagles and reavers do the army a whole lot of good.

Thanks. Point taken on the parry save.

Actually, yesterday while I wrote this for some reason I tried to keep the sum of lords + heroes at 50%, instead of keeping them separate; guess I was just tired.

The dragon riders could be better protected - 2 with ward save 4+, at least, and maybe the other with a charmed shield and the golden crown.

I think I'll try it this thursday - it should be against dark elves, and the 3 breath weapons will surely come in handy against their infantry.

Seems like it would be a fun list to play with. Love cav armies.

Kind of does suck that HE can do Cav better than Brets.....

Aftermath can be calculated.

Decide what it is you want your dragon mages doing. If you plan on keeping one of them out of melee combat, the shield of ptalos is definitely worth considering.

If you really want to keep with the cav theme, you'll need to up the numbers of your silver helms. 15-18 per unit would do the trick. That gives you staying power as well as increased offensive capabilities both before and after the charge.

If you want to banner of the world dragon the prince's, they should go to 15 too. Otherwise, I'd drop the banner off of them, and set up three smaller units of 5-7. Use them to flank what your silver helms hold up for an insane amount of combat rez.

Which bring us to your main problem. You won't be denying steadfast from anyone, and at this point value you will definitely face some large blocks. Like Bretonnia, you will need to pick and choose your charges very wisely.
