Infiltrating Broodlord

Brisbane

I have not played since the release of 7th and am at a loss at what is hot and what is not right now. When I left Eldau/Taudar, Daemon Flying Circus, Tyranid Skyblight and the Various Death Stars were top of the heap.
What changed the most in 7th to help/ hurt these armies? Is there a new top dog? How are some of the new codices?

Well, Taudar is no longer really a thing. Meta changed for Eldar for the most part. MSU jetbikes and warp spiders you'll mostly see on the field, except for armies that plan to table opponents instead of rack up massive objective points.

Also, they changed the allied "Come the Apocalypse" Rule to basically "Desperate Allies +1" So tyranids can hilariously ally up

The games have shifted from "Fly around, shoot stuff to death, rush to objectives turn 5" to actualy field controle. Tactical objectives are a tremendous increase in tactical gameplay. A bit random, however, but it's much better than boring min-max nonscence of 6 ed.

Superheavies other than TranCtan are mostly reasonable. Even if you have no means of destroying them, you can alwayz play to the mission greatly improving your chances of sucksess if played correctly.

New books have moved away from the power creep of mid 6 ed. People mostly dislike the formation thing and everything new but it's good for gameplay.

There are some issues with allies exploiting each other - but that's mostly due to 6-th codexes using new tools from 7 ones. There are also strong complaints about fantasy-style psy power system. Personally, i find it better than plain ld checks. However, Psy-focused armies can block the psy phase of the ones with 1-2 psychers, it's not all that bad cause now you get real chances to deny something important and the opponent pulls off significantly less psy powers with increased chances of perils the more he casts. So, it's a mixed bag.

Many people ragequited when summoning was introduced. But than it turned out to be somewhat mediocre in actual games.

All in all, i find 7-th a significant improvement over 6-th and a step in right direction. However, most people like 4-th and 5-th. Probably cause it's more simple to run and faster to play due to wound allocation.
