Hello! My friend and I are attending a very competitive doubles event and are looking for solid lists. I am expecting knights, etc so want to know what people think about these lists. There is nothing too "cheesy" as this is competitive. There are certain restrictions (LOW etc)

My list:

First off i can only speak on Tau

2nd - Whats the FoC, are you both following 1 chart or do you both have to uphold your unique factions FoC chart.

as for the Kroot, great choice with the snipers for Imperial Knights, by far best infantry you are going to get against that for the rending. Plus, a lot of people don't remember they are rounds, not a gun so you can switch back and forth if you want the rapid fire.

I don't paricularly like the Fusion on Riptide, but if you feel IKs are a legitamte threat, go for it i guess. I just don't feel they give as much to the riptide due to the lack of range. To use it, you will most likely just end up in unwanted CC with the IKs. Also i don't like the EWO on both riptides. I'd say give one IA, EWO, TL smart missle, Velocity tracker, so it can shoot something out of the air. 3 interceptor shots from your IA non TL at Str 7 are more then likely not going to take down that flyer (your fusions blaster probably will not be in range, again why i don't like them)

However that could also be a strategy, to tie up the Iks for 2-3 rounds using your riptdes.

as for the Crisis Suits, i'd go Plasma Rifles, not fusion, you lose the melta and the AP 1, but i feel you will be happier with this choice. Personal opinion on that one.

In this case i don't know that pathfinder are really necessary for your army and you can fit another squad of Kroot in for the same price or a 1 shot for glory hammerhead(which i never bring just because i roll consistent 1's) that could fit your army better. Again opinion.

I guess when you really think about it, any thing that adds up to 1000 pts can be considered competitive, just goes off what you really thing it necessary.

I felt like the fusion on the tide was better as it can be shot 2 times and also good if am using the IA to try and hurt armor.

The reason I went with fusions on the suits is anti armor. Can deepstrike with the commander and he can target lock something else while they melta away!

What you said about flyers I under stand but with my partner having 2 night scythes I felt like we were ok on flyers.

Ok Like i said, i don't know his army so well. In that case though i'd take the EWO off both riptides. Without the velocity tracker i feel you are just wasting there round of shooting on snap shots. They dont have any TL and not a lot of Hits to throw out to begin with.

Which means best case scenario BOTH of your riptides take down 1 flyer and miss out on their next shooting phase.

Worst case...they don't take down anything, and they miss out on next shooting phase. (this is more likely)

Oh well its not for shooting flyers at all. Its for shooting deepstriking units and other stuff that come from reserve.
