Hi,
I've been modelling for a while and have collected a few units which, almost by chance, are all Blood Angels in terms of paint jobs. I've just found out that one of my friends is a keen 40k player so we're thinking of playing some games together to help me learn the playing side of the hobby. I've therefore decided to try to build up a Blood Angels force and I'm looking for some help in producing a small, fairly all purpose list to help me out. I want to try to incorporate as many of my existing models as I can but I realise that I will have to get more in order to turn what I have into an actual army.
So, what I have so far is:
1) Death Company;
2) Librarian;
3) Dreadnought;
4) Sanguinary Guard;
5) Furioso Librarian Dreadnought;
6) Captain (Lord Executioner);
7) 5 Terminators.
As I started out just buying stuff I thought would be nice to paint I tended towards either individual models or the more eye-catching troop units. I anticipate I will need to get some more general troops to bulk out the army and will not be able to use many of the individual models I have until my army is much larger.
Anyway, thanks for the help!

Can you wait ? It's likely there will be a new codex in a month's time and any advice I give you now will be outdated.
See if your opponents will let you play unbound with your exisiting models for the time being ? It'll also get you used to BA and find out what you like and don't like.

Even with the new codex it is a sound investment to get assault marines. Although, you might not want to glue on the back packs

Hello,
Now that the new codex is out and opinions have formed I thought that I would revive this thread and see what advice comes.
It seems now that I don't actually have any troop choices, are assault marines still a wise investment? (I held off on that advice)

Perturbed Blood Angel Tactical Marine

I highly suggest picking up at least 1 TAC squad and 1 Scout squad. From there you can either pick up a 2nd TAC squad or a transport. I suggest a razorback so you can field it as either a rhino (by taking the turret off) or a razorback. A Baal Predator and Assault team after that.

I'd pick up drop pods and tac/assault marines. Death Company and Vanguard Vets are also good pick-ups.

Rule #1 is Look Cool.
Rule #2 is Do Cool S*%* Even If It's Tactically Inadvisable
Winning is something like Rule #17.

10 men Tac squad, 1-2 razorbacks, 10 DC, at least one furioso box (you can either choose between furioso, DC dread and libby), a libby with power axe or/and sang. priest and several pods (if possible) would be a mandatory starting set imo.

I would never use a Baal predator with the new codex. The only two things going in my heavy slot are Stormravens and fast tri-las preds.
