Can a blood angels model/unit with chainsword in their wargear choose to have and eviscerator or heavy chainsword instead? If so how would we go about that when making a list? thanks....

They need to have the option to purchase an eviscerator/heavy chainsword.

For comparison, look at Power Weapons where it states that if a model has a "power weapon" you look at the model to determine what type.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

It is a good question.
Models with these options seem far and few between....

This isn't a question that comes up often, if at all.
Yet somehow it's come up TWICE in one day

I did notice that, but one was an attachment to another thread so I didn't feel it fair to call 'duplicate thread.'
Still finding it quite interesting that such a signature weapon is finding itself becoming so uncommon....

I was saddened to see it is no longer an option for Imperial Guard Priests.

Seth has a heavy chainsword ....

Now, we like big books. (And we cannot lie. You other readers can’t deny, a book flops open with an itty-bitty font, and a map that’s in your face, you get—sorry! Sorry!)

Dam, from a rules stand point, that really sucks...I was really hoping to outfit a unit of blood angels with eviscerators or heavy chainswords...

Yes I saw the gabriel seth model.....really awsome model...im going to be getting my hands on one.

From a fluff stand point....would blood angels or their successor chapters have access to and use eviscerators/heavy chainswords? If gabriel seth has one why cant other blood angels get them?

For the same reason that they don't get the Executioner's Axe.

Seth's chainsword is a specific one-off unique relic, which is distinctly nastier than a rulebook 'heavy chainsword', much like Corbulo's chainsword is much nastier than a normal single-handed chainsword.

There's no reason they wouldn't, and it wouldn't surprise me to see them as an option in a new codex, but right now they can't.

Fluff-wise, the Eviserator was simply a weapon of the Adepta Sororitas. Not a "standard armoury" weapon. But since 6th Ed, they put the rules up next to the normal chainswords.

Blood Angels (IMHO) are too focussed on quick strikes and rapid fighting to even consider an Eviserator (Especially the Black Rage guys).

I would see them dropping the weapon and picking up the closest Wooden Stick because they got left behind...

Curiously I was browsing thru the forgeworld site and saw in the space marine section, weapon sets. In the weapon sets there is a two handed chainsword. Anyone know if there are any rules for that particular bit? Here is a link http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/Warhammer-40000/Space_Marines/Space_Marine-Infantry-and-Accessories/LEGION_MkIV_POWER_WEAPON_SET.html

That's more 30k for Legion armies than 40k Marines.
