Hi guys,

I drew up this list to explore the use of Khan's scout on dedicated transports. I'm getting a little bored of running the same sort of list (mass bikes, TFC, ST etc..), and wondered how effective this could be.

HQ (150):
Kor'Sarro Khan w/ Moondrakken - 150

Troops (1143):
Tactical Squad w/ Plasma Gun, Combi-Plasma, Meltabombs - 100
Razorback w/ Twin-Linked Lascannon - 75
Tactical Squad w/ Plasma Gun, Combi-Plasma, Meltabombs - 100
Razorback w/ Twin-Linked Lascannon - 75
Tactical Squad w/ Plasma Gun, Combi-Plasma, Meltabombs - 100
Razorback w/ Twin-Linked Lascannon - 75
Tactical Squad w/ Plasma Gun, Combi-Plasma - 95
Razorback w/ Twin-Linked Lascannon - 75
Tactical Squad w/ Plasma Gun, Combi-Plasma - 95
Razorback w/ Twin-Linked Lascannon - 75
Bike Squad w/ +5 men, 2 Plasma Guns, Combi-Plasma, Meltabombs, Attack Bike: Multi-Melta - 268

Elites (335):
Ironclad Dreadnought w/ 2 Heavy Flamers - 145
Drop Pod - 35
Sternguard Veteran Squad - 120
Drop Pod - 35

Fast Attack (130):
Assault Squad w/ 2 Flamers - 95
Drop Pod - 35

Heavy Support (250):
Thunderfire Cannon - 100
Stalker - 75
Stalker - 75

Total - 1998

Khan's scout is a fundamental necessity of the list. If I can scout onto the objectives, I can get ahead with the mysterious objectives and with the massed objective secured, I can see my opponent having difficulty clearing it all. With that as an anchor, I can press the attack with the drop pod assault and bikes.

What are people's experiance with MSU? How does this list look? Any major issues / alternatives?
Z

I have mixed feelings about razorspam lists. You have a lot of points sunk into pretty fragile chassises. Against an army that can put out a decent amount of mid-weight fire (like Eldar) you are going to see half your army explode first turn, and then the 5 man marine squads cleaned up at their connivence. That said, you can put out a lot of firepower. It’s just very glass hammer. Almost all of your AV fire is the razors.

If you are going to be scouting up into the enemies’s face, why not put some melta on the tac squads? Or run some as full tactical squads in rhinos. Not everything needs the plasma love.

You want 10 sternguard in the pod.

I would only run that many Razorbacks if the table had no shortage of terrain to move them into "hull down" positions. I can also see the same element working against you by negating your Plasma spam with cover saves.

Waveserpent shield blasts will wreck you razorbacks many times over.
