So I decided where I want to stand in the Great Counsel wars of 2014, and it's nintendo. only problem is besides mario games I don't really know which games are really good for the wii u. any tips/ help?

Wait for Super Smash Bros. and the new Zelda game (not that dumb Dynasty Warriors one), hopefully there's a new Metroid Prime.

Zombie U is a really fun game and can be had for cheap.
Zelda wind waker is great, specially if you hadn't played it on the game cube.
Pikmen3 was a great addition as well and I rented Donkey Kong tropical freeze and that is excellent. I'll buy it as soon as I have free cash.

Even though you mentioned Mario games, I can tell you Mario kart8 is fantastic fun. Next year though we will see some of the best games yet come out on the Wii U which I can't wait for

As mentioned, Smash / Zelda are on the way, along with Captian Toads Treasure Tracker, a new Kirby and Yoshi titles.

We'll hopefully see a new metroid prime soon, although I'd love a F-Zero title (a HD remake of GX would be the greatest thing to happen in years.)

Mass Effect 3 / Arkham Asylum / Darksiders 2 / Deus Ex

I didn't want to mention the marios but 3D world is actually fantastic and very fun in multi-player (best with 2 though).

The WInd Waker HD and Hyrule warriors are great fun.

Mario games, as always. Donkey Kong is also loads of fun.

Smash brothers and Mario kart are great for multiplayer.

I'm about to play splinter cell on mine. My son played it for over an hour and said it was great fun. And don't tell him I said this, but he has really good taste in games


Also Disney infinity, even though that can be played on anything but the WiiU version is the one I use.

Everyone always thinks that, I've been made fun of relentlessly for supporting the WiiU, but at the end of the day there will never be a nintendo console I don't own as I can't stand the concept of there being Zelda titles I haven't played.

Also since I have a decent gaming PC I can pick up anything else I can't get on the WiiU via Steam.

Also the WiiU version of Watchdogs is out soon too I think.

A lot of good stuff listed so far.

Download only off the eShop is Shovel Knight.

They also recently added paper monsters to the eshop. I bought it on tablet forever ago and really liked it. On WiiU they added a boat load to it so I'd imagine it's even better.

Oh! Forgot to mention splinter cell black list is a good one and only around 10 bucks. I got a chance to play for an hour or so and am really digging it

well I kinda want a wii you for smash bros and for the fact it doesn't have a whole lot of internet gimmicks like the xbone x-x never really was into zelda, but I can try I think.

Never really into Zelda?....... well I guess it's possible to not like that franchise, though I'm going to plug my ears and hum as loud as I can

I just get lost to no end and have no clue what to do without a guide. then again I only played Majora's mask and oracle of seasons along with the first two.

I understand why some people don't like them, but I grew up on the original Zelda titles so they are pretty important to me.

How is Bayonetta 1 on the Wii U? I avoided getting it for the PS3 because I heard it had frame rate issues.

They said 2015 last I looked into it. And I agree, when I first saw it I thought eh. Then the more I watched the cover of it I got more and more excited. That will be another game I play the hell out of when it launches.

Watched the Nintendo direct last night. Got my excited pants on. I'm not joking, I cannot wait for Xenochronicles X. My good that game just looks awesome, I'll make sure to preorder it since finding the Wii version will cost $100 or more.

Oh sorry I didn't pick up on that, it's fairly decent port from the look of it, I think it's had a few mild touch ups but not an overhaul, I've only played about 10 minutes of it so I can't really comment too much yet.

so what other games are really good for it? any virtual games?

I've heard nothing but good from shovel knight, and it truly looks good.
Paper Monsters is a fun and vibrant game. I have it on tablet and the WiiU version has added levels and such so I can't imagine that being worse.



Outside that, they have a crap load of older games on virtual console, which is obviously good.
