So I have just recently picked up an Adamantine Lance formation, and built 2 Errants and 1 Paladin. I'm going to be using them alongside my Chaos Daemons in upcoming Tournaments, but I don't really know what to run with them. My initial thoughts are either Soul Grinders, for a maximum AV13 wall of walkers, or possibly a fast assault based detachment, probably either Screamers, or Flesh Hounds. There's also other options as well, like Summoning and FMCs. So I was wondering what everyone else thought, and what they would include alongside an Adamantine Lance?

idk i think the two different factions and their similar roles clash very heavily. they're both very assault heavy, with shooting to support on the way in. with the CtA rules keeping them at bay from each other, you need to careful with this approach.

but i would do soulgrinders, with DoS and maybe some hounds with herald. idk the points of the knights but maybe something like this:

fateweaver
herald of khorne, axe, loci, jugg
herald of tzeentch, lvl 3, grimorie

horrors
nurglings

hounds

soulgrinder
soulgrinder

Lance formation

use the HoT to grimorie the hounds and herald, fateweaver to ensure the grimorie and control the warp storm, roll malific powers trying to get cursed earth, and run the grinders and hounds down one flank, while the Lance formation does work on the other.

like i said idk the points total of the formation, but it's an idea

5000+

Yeah sadly the lance formation is 1115pts, meaning I only have 735pts left for my daemons. Which probably won't fit all of that in.

Imperial Knights are more than 350 points each, so that wont fly at 1850.

Knights lack board presence and scoring units. I think I would try to amend that with summoning. Something like

150 HoT, ML3, Disc, ER (Grimnoire)
150 HoT, ML3, Disc, ER (Portalglyph)
99 11 Pink Horrors
99 11 Pink Horrors
225 9 Screamers

That gives you 10 mastery levels or 2 summoned units per turn.

It also gives you the ability to overload one flank with the Knights and another with a serious Daemonic presence.

The max AV13 option could work with something like

75 The Masque
45 Nurglings
45 Nurglings
45 Nurglings
170 Soulgrinder, DoS, Balefull Torrent
170 Soulgrinder, DoS, Balefull Torrent
175 Soulgrinder, DoS, Warp Gaze

You would gain 3 AV13, cheap scoring and The Masque can criple deathstars.

Good luck with the list.

Thanks, I might try the summoning list. The lists that I came up with were:

Tzeentch herald
3 nurglings
3 nurglings
8 screamers
8 screamers
8 screamers

And the other was:

Slaanesh herald exalted locus of beguilement
19 daemonettes
3 nurglings
Soul grinder MoS torrent
Soul grinder MoS torrent
Bastion with escape hatch

But I think the summoning might work. Thanks again

Is it maelstrom missions you are doing?

Id consider
1x 350 - nurgle prince (summoning or slaanesh with lash if you are worried about fliers)
320 - 2 units of 10 hounds
90 - unit of pink horrors.

The prince can summon units onto any objectives that are inconvenient to score and the hounds can support the flanks and deal with small units that aren't worth charging with a knight.

A nurgle prince is a more durable summoning platform than a disc heralds I feel. With D6+4 dice you can reliably get 1 new unit a turn with very few units that can counter him.

The heralds can get sniped by barrage or concentrated fire quite easily and have a harder time summoning onto opponents backfield objectives.

It's eternal war primary and maelstrom secondary, with tertiary as well. You've got to have a CAD (and only 1) and one other source. So I'm taking daemons primary and the Lance formation. So I could do this:
Nurgle/slaanesh prince (or even be'lakor)
1 unit of hounds
Depending on points left over nurglings and/or horrors

Id take a summoning prince over bel'kor since you cant invis your knighs (come the apocalypse) and the ability to fly around with 2+ cover and summon onto objectives all game is fantastic.

Its hard to say which is better nurgle or slaanesh, one has a 2+ cover save at all times, the other one can take out enemy fliers and back armour rhinos and such (can be handy to let your knights get charges in (last thing you want is to have to charge a waveserpent full of fire dragons with an imperial knight).

Slaanesh has a nice beam weapon, to ignore jink on those pesky wave serpents. I think it's just going to be down to testing on the most part with this list. But yeah that's something else to consider.
