So I thought I'd create a thread for feedback and stuff, so that I can improve my painting. I generally take ages on models, so I'm likely to post fairly intermittently, but anyhow, here's Big Mek Buzzgob, the FW model that I finished a month or two ago.

So yeah, feedback is appreciated, as I'm generally trying to improve. I've finished a couple of models since this (a Herald of Tzeentch and an Ork Warboss), so I'll try and post more photos when I'm able to take some decent ones.

Nice bold colors. Like him a lot.

Really not a fan of the painted edge of the base though, it interrupts the immersion of the mini for me, like models who's weapons/tail etc drop below that invisible barrier.

I actually enjoy the base, it ties in with the model really well for me. Well done all the way around man.

He looks pretty cool, but I'd really like to see him against a darker background. The bright white overwhelms the colors and makes him seem darker and poorly contrasted. I feel like the picture is handicapped by how bright the background is.

I'm not a fan of the base, as it both 'breaks immersion' and draws the eye. My attention is drawn to the bright blue base, and not the model. Now, if your army is a mix of clans and you are using that to keep track of them (the Evil Suns have red bases, the Bad Moons have yellow bases,...) it makes sense, and it might look more unified on the table. But it does really draw attention away from the model.

I think the photos need more light in general, as it makes it hard to see him in all the photos. Simply more light overall and not direct light. As direct will make shadows and atm, you have minimal shadows but not quite enough to truely show him off.

I really like the yellow/black banding on the power cables and i feel that the other yellow cable would benefit from it too, but i know how horrible that pattern can be to paint :/

Something ive started to do with my orks is a little red/purply wash on the lower lip touching the mouth line, it really adds some nice depth and colour change to an orks face. Have a google and see what you think. Its a really easy tip i picked up and i havent looked back.

the glass on the lower lens is also really nice
Love the model overall, but just added those points as you wanted feedback Keep the pictures coming!

Favourite Game: When your Warboss on bike wrecks 3 vehicles simply by HoW - especially when his bike is a custom monowheel.

Do you think it would work if I went for a more muted blue for the base? maybe something like this? I quite like having the main theme colour for my army as the colour on the base, but I do see how it draws attention, so I shall try and change it when I next do some painting.

I dont know, I quite like the base rim. It ties in with the blue on the rest of him (as thats more sparse). If it were another colour I dont think it would work. I'd like to see a unit with the rims painted if you have any? would be cool to see the effect en mass. As in isolation it can be misleading.

Tabletop it would also provide quite a nice pickout to really make each model standout on the board. But I can also see why people dont like this. But I feel its mostly a personal preferance.
