For the small hive city I'm slowly building in my basement, I want to make some kind of forum or something like a senate building for the admin presence there. Any idea how to go about it? I had thought of a large, circular half- dome that I could build out of small foam bricks (because I always defect to carving it out of foam) but that would take forever and be terribly tricky to put together cause if one brick was just a little short I could throw off the entire project. I don't know what to start making this out of.

I went to Hershey Park in central PA this year, and I have to say I was more than a little disappointed. I fully expected the entire theme park to be make entirely of chocolate, but no. Here in America, we have "building codes," and some other nonsense about chocolate melting if don't store it someplace kept below room temperature.

You could cut a rubber ball in half and use that as a form for expanding foam and then use a pencil to scribe in the lines.

Depending on how large it is you may want to look at those reflective lawn balls maybe.

@ Something like this?

On baseboard paint circle.
Then start laying segment after segment.

Point is using using fast drying glue.(BSI super gold plus CA glue for example)
After gross construction, use sandpaper to smooth surface. If you have some holes on top, fill it with filler. (some kind of putty aka green stuff)
Example buid from me... (is not dome, but close enough..)

building...

Depending on how big you want it a cheap plastic car hubcap would possibly be a good place to start.

If you want a dome big enough for a 40K building I would start with a cheap mixing/salad bowl.
