I have been thinking about making a little force of Deathwatch, and want to model them proppa, but as far as I can see the only "upgrade pack" you can get for them (with Stalker Bolters, shoulder pads and whatelse) is the metal one in the online Games Workshop shop, which I don't have a problem with, it's just that I'd rather not have something that expensive send over long distances, and I really don't like the idea of modelling old metal with newer plastic (I'll be using a Command Squad and a Sternguard squad to model them).

So, I'd like to know if there are any alternatives out there like third party produced upgrades and similar.

Well, there is a Deathwatch shoulder pad in the Commander box, and a couple in the Command Squad box. You can use a few websites to order these specific plastics, but I don't believe any other kits have those bits. With regards to the bolters, use the bolters from the Sternguard box, they look pretty nice and ornate, and don't bother with the helmets from the Deathwatch upgrade pack. Also, if you're considering Terminators, the regular Terminator Squad box has a Deathwatch TDA shoulder pad in it.

They/them

Now that's severely cool - Are they true Deathwatch shoulder pads, or do they just look the type? Can you direct me to a bitz-side?

Hmm... As far as I can see, only the Termy and Commander box has a shoulder pad, but not the Command Squad box... It isn't on the sprues but is still categorized as in there on Bitzbox.com.

There's one in the command squad box too.

Two, actually. One on the multi-part captain.

I mostly used sterngurd bolters with mine, but also used the opportunity to use some of the random Space Wolf and Dark Angel bits that had found their way into my collection over the years. The rest is mostly tactical squads, bit they are really a bits-box special. Use whatever looks cool. I’ve only recently started to get paint on them.

The metal ones look WAY better than the plastic ones. I have a metal set myself, they're great.

Tis true what he says.

Metal ones have much more detail and you don't have to paint them.

I properbly will anyway, too shiny to me. I don't need to use the Bolters either, so maybe that's the way to go... On the other hand, one of my newer gaming buddies just told me he wanted to make a Deathwatch force, and as that will be his first force, I think I'll just lay off, as I have other models to play with.
