Hey guys,

Here's my army to go up against the empire next week! I am going for a double vamp lord build with a bk bus. Tell me what you think and how I can improve it

Vampire Lord (on foot): lvl 3,
QB, Red Fury, OTS, Ogre Blade, heavy armor, shield 479pts

Vampire Lord (mounted): lvl 4,
Red Fury, Aura of dark majesty, beguile, summon creatures, skabscrath, potion of strength, heavy armour, shield, barded nightmare

36 ghouls: champion

3x 5 dire wolves

35 zombies: standard bearer 110pts

14 black knights: barding, lances, champion, banner of the barrows 434pts

2x 2 fell bats 64pts

Spirit Host 45pts

terrorgheist 225pts

AS for strategy I guess I'd try to deny one flank while stomping on the other?

personal opinion, fel bats suck for 6 points more you get 2 bat swarms this is the difference

bat swarms are 5 wounds each with 5 atks (granted str 2 but meh wound on 5 not a big deal) and the most important you give enemies ASL, and summon creatures works on em, also they can't March but they can hover 10" without the general nearby, perfect for assisting in crippling the flank your cav want to run down

I do like bat swarms and have the models but the fell bat's role is hunting warmachines and the batswarms don't do that well at all.

yea I suppose that's true enough, the way I look at it is you have an awesome flyer already or even cavalry, personally I like varghulf over terror gheist but if you flyer can just jump into the back and run down war machines, he's at least made his points back so for me 2 peices of WM down makes the points for my gulf and then he's free to charge into other things like wizard bunkers, the terrorist can do the same thing just yelling at stuff on the way, and the bat swarms cam make your actual core troops be useful. 4 for 4 games now my skely block of 50 with one vamp lord in it rocking no magical weapons have takin on and wiped out the 30 witches with hag and cauldron all because those bats just ruin ppls day lol, something to think about anyway

i don't see why you want to spend 479 points on a foot slogging vamp when you have a better caster lord in the black knights.

If its about adding some combat punch to the Ghouls, take a hero vamp and a master necromancer with scroll.

Then beef up units or add some hex wraiths with spare points.

i think the is good, just think he is expensive and you need more stuff.

In the Casualty section of a Blood Bowl dugout

That's a pretty good list, all that really needs improving is some fiddling around with your Vampire Lords.

Firstly, the bus will want two characters in, so you'll need to mount up the second Vampire. As it wasn't possible before this FAQ I'm not sure how two Vampire Lords in the bus will work, but it's worth a try. You could, however, stick to the old method of having a Hero Level Vamp in there instead. This should free up points for a unit of 6 Crypt Horrors (or something of that ilk) which will be a nice addition to your list.

Secondly, your mounted Vampire's build is good, but it's not quite in the right situation for it. Playing with Skabscrath's screaming using Pot of Str and the powers is good (though better on a SGK imo) but for a mounted Vampire Lord you really need Red Fury, Quickblood (and Beguile if you want it) with an Enchanted Shield, a 4++, preferably an Earthing Rod, and a Lance (though some people will say an Ogre Blade is still better). If you can't fit a Necromancer in to carry a Dispel Scroll, your other Vampire will have to carry one, though what his build is depends on whether you downgrade him to a Hero or not.

Hope this helps, any more questions, let me know!
