Could someone please explain to me the general concept of counter charge.
For example..
Does the charged unit, with the rule, get to fire its rapid fire weapons in overwatch?
Does the unit get to counter charge if it came out of a non-assualt vehicle, that game turn (drop pods)?
What about turn one stuff, you cant charge period first game turn right?
Thank you, my friend and I are learning together and sharing a rule book. The friend has the rule book :(. Im gonna put my meagre collection of space wolves into purple plastic picnic cups!

It's counter attack not counter charge so all the restrictions on charging have nothing to do with the rule. The only restrictions are the ones listed in the rule.

You can charge turn 1, there are some restrictions involving reserves, scout or infiltrate though. There is no general rule that turn 1 charges are disallowed. If you are wolfs you could get some WolfGuard, put them in Jump Packs, or Thunderwolves, buy them a land raider and you could easily charge the 1st turn.
All counter attack needs to work is that you are charged....

Giggles333, Unless they added it in 7th Edition and I didn't notice, there is no Rule preventing a 1st Turn Charge. It is just something which is very difficult to achieve, usually requiring your opponent to make a few mistakes during deployment and some very good Dice Rolls. The few Rules which could be used to easily achieve a first turn Charge all have Restrictions making charging illegal. There are one or two Units which can make achieving this easier, but all it takes is an opponent that is aware of what you are trying to do or the wrong result of a die... not at all reliable a tactic.

8th made it so I can no longer sway Tau onto the side of Chaos, but they will eventually turn aside from their idea of the Greater Good to embrace the Greatest of pleasures. |

So if i deep strike in a squad of grey hunters with a drop pod and my opponent charges them, can i fire my rapid fire weapons and then move 6 inches? Do I get an extra attack as if I charged?

You mean Overwatch? Yes you can shoot at the unit charging you. The Overwatch rules will give more detail.
and then move 6 inches?
No, you move in your movement phase, not when you get charged.
Do I get an extra attack as if I charged?
Yes, the Counter Attack rule will grant you an extra Attack. This is all the rule does, it doesn't grant any extra movement or anything else.
