Was scanning headlines and saw the drummer for AC/DC was arrested. I figured it was probably possession as is common for celebrities/musician stories, but then I noticed the blurb was slightly different at the bottom. Apparently he is under arrest on charges of murder-for-hire, which is a little different than usual. Of course they also got him on possession ect, but still.

AC/DC drummer Phil Rudd has been charged with attempting to arrange a murder in New Zealand, along with threatening to kill and possession of methamphetamine and cannabis.

According to the New Zealand news site SunLive, the 60 year-old drummer allegedly attempted to procure the murder of two men, and was arrested Thursday. His Taraunga home was raided Thursday morning and he later appeared in Tauranga District Court. He is expected to reappear in court in three weeks.

Rudd is accused of procuring the murder between September 25 and 26, according to court documents obtained by SunLive. The drugs were found in his home Thursday when police arrested him.

Amidst the mists and coldest frosts he thrusts his fists against the posts and still insists he sees the ghosts.

I'm not a big fan of AC/DC. They had maybe one or two okay songs. I like classic rock myself and think Foreigner could top them any day with just about any song they have vs the best of AC/DC. Van Halen is also really good (spelling?).

Lol, time to take off the Winger T-shirt, Stewart, and embrace your inner Butthead. 'I Wanna Know What Love Is' has no business being uttered as a suitable replacement for any AC/DC song.

As to the news blurb...WTH(Ell's), Belle(s)? Not kosher, if true.

I prefer foreigner to ac/dc, in fact I rather listen to a set of big ends knocking, than ac/dc. I also like Nazareth, queen, iron maiden. black sabbath, asia journey, in fact anything but ac/dc.

Looks like he was after some Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap. (sorry, sorry, it had to be done ) On a more serious note, I hope this pans out to be some mistake, or at least less severe than what's being reported. AC/DC don't need to lose another member this year.

Regarding the musical discussion that has cropped up, I'll throw in my 0.02: AC/DC are one of the greatest bands of all time. They may not be the most musically ambitious, the most consistent or even the most talented by some metrics. But right from their first album to their last, they've done the same thing, and done it well. AC/DC (along with Purple and Sabbath) pretty much defined Hard Rock since its inception, and of all those that followed, very few came close to beating them at it.

Foreigner, Asia, Van Halen, Journey; all good bands, but in a completely different style whose only similarity with AC/DC is that they all play music. AOR and Hard Rock are pretty much opposite ends of the Rock spectrum, and don't really bear comparison.

So who did he arrange to have killed? Bill Ward? Ian Paice? Tommy Aldridge?

Maybe he had something to do with the deaths of Cozy Powell, Gary Driscoll and Clive Burr as well?

Also consider that, by many "expert" opinions they should have failed, due to the "expert" opinion that their singer's voice is atrocious Frankly, AC/DC doesn't really work having Freddy Mercury or Ronnie James Dio as lead singer. The overall sound and subject matter needs that dirty, raspy voice.

Of the two singers AC/DC have had (I do prefer Johnson to Bon), I agree that their voices suit the music perfectly; the tunes are raw, loud and rough, and the voices work to that, just as Freddie's suits the music of Queen and Paul Rogers's suits Free and Bad Co's sound.

Definitely. Neither my wife nor myself watch "The Voice" "American Idol" or any of the other gak singing shows, but we've often talked about how funny it would be to disguise a really famous singer like Brian Johnson and have them sing just to hear the insults Simon or any other "negative" judge had to say, then big reveal and a "haha, you said I could never be a successful singer!! I'm AC/DC donkey cave!!"

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Actually... aren't AC/DC on their third singer now?? I thought I'd read somewhere that, due to health reasons Johnson has stepped aside, and his son who apparently sounds almost exactly like him has taken up the mic.

Hmm, I'm pretty sure Brian Johnson is still with them. At least, he was as of an interview I read a couple of weeks ago about the new album.

Marcus Young left the band recently due to having severe dementia (again, a real shame and loss to the music world), and I think they brought a relative of his in on bass, so you might be thinking of that.

Quite possibly... I rarely keep up with the individual band members' lives. When it comes to music, I only pay attention insofar as keeping up with album releases. Hence why I may see a snippet of a story, or hear about something that stands out to me.

For me it's Slayer, Amon Amarth, and, since I discovered they were a metal band, Soul Fly/Max Cavalera (seriously, growing up, when I saw their album covers, I thought they were a rap group, like Wu Tang Clan or something)

Slayer's the best band in history of musical recording (didn't we just talk about this lol)

I'm only familiar with Max Cavaelera inb the context of Seupultura, and I'm still a big big fan of those records, first and foremost, Arise.

I got into Amon Amarth at one point when I heard "With Odin on Our Side", but I'm afraid the non-stop "big mean Viking" stuff has burnt me out on them.

He lives in Taraunga?

I went there once when my family lived not far from it. Really nice place.

I care not for his music though.

I wonder who his targets were?

It was 2 men, but apparently there idenitities have been suppressed, which is probably a smart move by officials. There's alot of hardcore AC/DC fans.

Yeah, nice try, but no.

1. Van Halen and/or Led Zeppelin. Atomic Punk and Black Dog, respectively, blew my damn socks off the first time I heard them.
Somewhere near 2. AC/DC and Journey

Foreigner places somewhere near the bottom of my list for favorite classic rock bands. I would prefer Ratt and REO Speedwagon over Foreigner, they really weren't that great.

Nope, still up on drug charges and threatening to kill. He can rock from the jailhouse, or more likely, from the comfy seat of his probation thanks to being a celebrity and being filthy rich
