'lo there

I've been just recently been reading the Horus Heresy books and have become intrigued by the primarchs and their relationships. I thought it would be nice to hear other people's views on them. Mayber are there any primarchs you feel should be more developed in that sense?

Myself, I've always liked how Lion and Russ have that love/hate relationship going.

Just wondering what others think, any and all opinons on this welcome and wanted.

Thanks, The tallest Giraffe.

Alpharius and Omegon. They are aware they are going to stab each other in the back and not just expect it, but support it.

Alternatively, Ferrus Manus and Fulgrim, for being so unlikely.

I'm fond of the brotacular relationship between Ferrus and Fulgrim. Forged during their awesome smithing competition, strengthened during the great crusade, and finally shattered by the betrayal (I especially like how Fulgrim really wanted Ferrus by his side, but they ended up fighting each other with the very weapons that they forged for each other). I like that they had two confrontations, and how Fulgrim was being controlled by his Daemon weapon when he finally killed Ferris at the Dropsite massacre, and so didn't feel very good about it. I find this whole relationship so much more compelling and "real" than the Horus/Sanguinus relationship - those two were just bros because they were both awesome, perfect people rather than having to build a sort of rapport (Ferrus and Flugrim were a lot more flawed by comparison, and didn't have any obvious reasons to be friends).

Ferrus manus and fulgrim definitely, probably mostly because of connections to my real life. My best friend all through high school was the complete opposite of me, and yet we were still the best of friends, he'll we we're basically brothers.

Funny thing is, our nicknames for eachother was that he called me fulgrim, and I called him ferrus, pretty funny findin such similarities in the real world. Hell, he even liked more hands on and tough artificing, whereas I like the more delicate side of things.

Man I miss high school

It didn't come out that much, but Magnus and Lorgar are quite interesting. Magnus goes all scholarly, having good counsel and bottomless knowledge, while Lorgar strives to understand what his brother says.

Each Primarch with death. Best relationship ever. Primarchs worked as half remembered myths from a long bygone age but to read about these emotionaly stunted manchildren in action ranges from unimpressive to downright pitiful.

I couldn't agree more about the sanguinus/horus thing, as much as I am a sanguinius groupie I feel that he's a bit too shallow in that sense. Everyone likes him, apparently Horus loves him but I haven't read too much that fleshes out any of it, other than the uptight way Guilliman shows his affection.

I relate the most with the whole Sanguinius/Horus relationship. Sanguinius was just so trusting that his fellow badass was gonna stay his bro forever until Horus just stabbed him in the back. Been there. Done that.

I actually like the Angron & Russ relationship. It's not loving, but you get the sense that it might have been, had Angron not had pain and insanity-causing nails inserted into his skull. Russ' attempt to get Angron to recognize his defeat and how he was leading his Legion to ruin failed, but it seems a very brotherly thing to try to do. Those of you who have fought with brothers will probably get what I mean better than those who haven't...

I know it's old fluff, but I always liked the relationship with Horus and Alpharius/Omegon. But, that was all written before Omegon existed, so who knows how valid it all is anymore...

Anyway, Alpharius/Omegon was different because Horus found him, rather than the Emperor. So the two of them bonded on the return to Terra. A/O's return was barely celebrated and quickly moved aside to continue with the Great Crusade, so he/they never really had a chance to bond with dear ol' Dad. I always saw it as Horus and A/O having a strong mentor/mentee relationship throughout the Crusade. Hanging out on Horus' flagship, talking war, bonding and what-not. Plus he never really had a chance to form a bond with any of his other brothers.

But, again, that was old fluff... and it's A/O. Who the hell knows what he/they were thinking the whole time. He/they could have been totally using Horus all along. Still, that's my two-cents.
