I didn't see mention of this Kickstarter on here anywhere:
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1893860275/thexlc-pre-printed-mdf-wargame-terrain-quick-robus?ref=users
I haven't seen printed MDF terrain anywhere before. It seems like a great idea. Since you don't need to paint anything, you can get it on the table very quickly, and it looks great. Certainly better than I'd be able to paint something similar, even if I spent a bunch of time on it.
Here's a picture of the pledge that includes everything (and two of some things)
The Military Pack also seems pretty useful:

Those look quite good. And IMO reasonably priced even for MDF buildings that aren't pre-painted! If I played more modern, I'd definitely be all over this.
However that ship date of December 2014 seems highly ambitious.

Ditto on the ambitious goal, but the manufacturing process looks simple (very clever, but simple). If they have it set up, and they're just looking to get pre-orders and publicity, they could be cutting MDF before the Kickstarter even ends.
This is a smart idea.

I'm not going to lie, this is pretty ingenious. Laser print a color sticker and attach it to MDF before laser cutting and you end up with all the durability of MDF with the convenience of not having to paint it, that printing terrain brings.Laser cut terrains biggest investment is cutting time. With lots of cuts and details usually engraved in, this process dramatically shortens that to essentialy just cutting out large shapes.
That being said, I personally find it a bit pricey. It looks like they found a way to cut their costs, but charge a premium for finished terrain.
It's nice looking though, I would have gone nuts and spent $140 US on it, but that is over $200. Those designs are pretty basic. You can achieve similar results with Black Foam Core and Paper Models

I'd love to see aircraft hangers & other airfield stuff.
Glad it hasn't as I have no spare cash at the moment!

Also I've started taking photos to use as reference for weathering which can be found here. Please send me your photos so they can be found all in one place!! |

This is very tempting, but I just can't pony up over $200 for terrain at the moment. It does look awesome though- I'd love to have both sets.

You can get any of the individual pieces on their own. I only put up graphics of two of the pledge levels, the first one because it shows everything, and the other one because it seems a useful combination of stuff for 40K or other sci-fi games.
I could update the original post with pictures of all the individual pictures with prices for each building, if that would be more clear. I figured people would check out the link of they were at all interested.

I like how it's not just a sticker put on, but actually laminated and protective coating. This will really help them stand up to wear and tear.
I'm not in need of terrain, especially with this design, but I like the prospect of the pre-printed designs. Hopefully it's successful and we see some more of this in the future with different settings (Fantasy/40k).

I know he said "protective layer", but I took that as the peel away layer on top that prevented the printed side from being damaged by the laser, and or scuffing in transit.
