Are you a musician? If so, what instruments do you play? What styles of music do you enjoy playing? Hobbyist? Pro? Got in any links to your stuff you'd like to share?
For myself, I play mandolin, flattop guitar, electric guitar, and bass guitar.
Bluegrass is my favorite type of music to play. Metal is probably my favorite music to listen to, but I don't enjoy playing it very much, mostly due to most drummers difficulties with the style (IME, your Dave Lombrados and Nicko McBrains are few and far between). On the other hand, with a couple exceptions, I really dislike listening to Country music, but I think playing it is a blast!
I used to play in local bar bands, mostly Classic Rock covers, but the time required/desired by most bandmates was too much for me. Now, I will fill in on a gig here or there when a frend of mine's bandmate can't make it or what have you. But I mostly just like relaxing with friends and playing some bluegrass.
I play guitar, electric and acoustic, and dabble in keyboard/piano. Mostly, I play blues and/or classic rock, at a completely ameteur level. I've tried my hand at songwriting a few times, but never really come up with anything good.
My main instruments are guitar (electric and acoustic) and bass guitar, but I do some keyboard as well.
I played bass in a band, and we played mostly Velvet Underground/Lou Reed kind of music, but when I write songs and play by myself it's mostly doom metal, or doom punk.
I haven't played in years, but up into college, I played trumpet and trombone. I keep trying to get people together to make a ska band, but it's hard to find anyone with interest, and I'm so busy.
I played bass guitar for a number of years during and after high school in Las Vegas. I played in a four-piece hardcore/metal band called Morose and after our drummer moved away for college, we broke up.
Then a couple of friends of mine started jamming again and invited me to sit in and we ended up starting a melodic death metal band called This Virus Makes us Human. We started as a four-piece, became a five-piece, and then back to a four-piece after the vocalist quit. Then I took over vocal duties along with bass and I quit a couple months later and moved back home to Virginia.
I had a Roland electronic drum set for a while, but I sold it over the summer because it was just sitting in my basement collecting dust.
I've flirted with the idea of playing music again, but I haven't played in over ten years so I'm nowhere near what I was then (not that is even that much then!). It's also hard to find the time with my family now, but maybe one day.

Percussionist. Played the drums quite a bit back in the day but it is hard to do when you live in apartments and drums aren't really allowed so you have to have an off site area to practice.
Amidst the mists and coldest frosts he thrusts his fists against the posts and still insists he sees the ghosts.
I dabble in bass guitar myself, I'm kinda terrible though :C need more practice, some lessons would probably help.
In the past I've played electric guitar, clarinet, trumpet, and cello to varying degrees of competency.

You know bluegrass metal is a thing, right?

I've played guitar since I was 15, so about, eh, 8 years ago. Used to give lessons for a bit but got burned out. Played a lot of hard rock and metal with some high school friends in a band called Sudden Exploding head syndrome, and a band with some friends before that called 360 degrees of shag.
I've burned out a bit, but am finally getting back into it by playing southern rock and folksy type stuff like drive by truckers, Old Crow Medicine show, and Skynyrd. Very fun music to play and easy to sing for me since my busted voice can't do much else

A guy I used to play with actually ended up getting a job for Old Crow Medicine Show. Chance McCoy, not to namedrop or anything. I have never, ever, before, then, or after, seen a guy who spent so much time practicing....glad it paid off for him in the end, that's a pretty big name in the bluegrassy-folksy world.
He's the dude in the flanel playing guitar. Its pretty uncommon that someone from around these parts lands a gig with a big-name band like that, so for us, at least for me, its a big deal.
And yes...that's Hootie!

I play piano and guitar, nothing like a band though, just for myself. I have been messing around with recording some of the stuff I have done lately, but even then, I can't write songs. Sing, yes, but I'm bad at writing.

IME, the songs people write are usually quite a bit better than they perceive them to be, fwiw
I used to play guitar, but haven't touched an instrument for a few years now. From 16 to 20 heavy metal was my life, it was all I cared about. Had a band, even played two gigs. I wrote most of our material too, and towards the end I was writing increasingly complex tunes but then I guess I just got burnt out and stopped playing. Miniatures are my love now

Probably, I do quite a bit of art, and find myself to be very critical of myself .

I'd actually love to learn the guitar so I could play it for my daughter. Just need to figure out where to start. Leaning towards taking some classes (damns himself for not taking the FREE guitar classes in HS)
Guitar, bass and vocals. Used to play in various punk and metal bands. Then ended up doing a kinda new-wave industrial project with some hardcore techno (gabber, breakcore, etc) influences. Now it's Dutch surf-rock-pop and a art-pop thing.
I'm a self-taught keyboard/ piano player, briefly tried acoustic guitar, and a decent group singer. However, my main speciality is playing the cornet, and I play in my local district's concert and swing band.
I played piano and a little violin. At first I wanted to play guitar until I realised guitar players are a dime a dozen. I don't like following the crowd. Their wasn't many piano players and even fewer violin.
Starting in Elementary school I was pretty actively playing electric and upright bass. From college onward it was mostly electric with some dabbling in upright. I had 4 year stints in Rock and Country bands and shorter times with Indie, gospel, Pop, Klesmer/Gypsy/Folk outfits. I also assembled a number of instruments and did alot of repair. That all ended with the arrival of my first kid 4 years ago.
The Country band was probably the most active and the only one that made any real money. Had the chance to open for some national acts (Trace Adkins, Randy Travis, etc) and really enjoyed the quality of musicians in the group. Also, unlike an original rock act, when you play Country music, people seem to come to your shows. All this was a big surprise to someone who had never really played or listened-to country before.
Still have a collection of 9 instruments or so and a couple amps. I'm an at-home dad now and when the kids are both old enough for school, I'd like to study upright properly again.

It's never to late!
My dad was a hobbyist guitarist his whole life. Then in his late 50's he decides to learn bass because his church needs a bass player. He starts taking music lessons (guitar and bass) for the first time in 40+ years and now he's a competent bass player and a much better guitar player.
Pretty darn inspiring. Hi hope I have the motivation to do something new like that when I'm his age.
