Hey Gang,

I originally had a 2000 Tyranid all CC army and with some of the new toys coming out, and my local meta changing, I decided to play around with my list. I'm not super familiar with the Drop Pods yet. Obviously going to change some things when I read the new rules in the WD. I left some points open to play with to help get a Drop Pod or some possible upgrades I'm missing. so I just wanted to see what people think.

HQ

Hive Tyrant
Stranglethorn Cannon, Old Adversary
195

Hive Tyrant
Wings, 2 TL Devourer with worms
230

Elites
3 Hive Guard in a brood
3 Impaler Cannon
165

Venomthrope
45

Venomthrope
45

Troops

20x Hormagaunts 20x Poison
160

30x Termegants (not sure what to equip them with)

Tervigon
195

Heavy
3x Carnifex with 2x Scything Talons
360

Exocrine
170

Exocrine
170

Total: 1975

I guess game planwise, I'd have the main horde which would be foot tyrant, hive guard, venomthrope, carnifexs, Hormagaunts, then possibly off to the side, or in a drop pod would be the Tervigon. Off to the side it would roll up with the termegaunts and a venomthrope. Possibly an exocrine or two in this one. Kinda want two hordes moving and getting gak done while the Flyrant harasses.

Thoughts? Everything is appreciated.

Also Question: I hate the termegaunt model. I think the little gun toting beasites look stupid. If I did hormagaunts in a completely different color scheme, very distinct from main force, do you think people would let them play as termegaunts? The idea of these guys looking like they're carrying guns drives me insane. Exocrine I love. Makes sense. Hydralisks shoot gak out of their chest. Anyway thanks.

if you dont like Termagaunts then dont use them, they arent exactly the main thing that Nids have, Hormagaunts are faster and can stay as a screen in front of your bigger bugs very well.

if you do take them I recommend taking half or two thirds with devourers but at that point I like the idea of using hive commander upgrade on the hive tyrants to make them flank out from the side and shoot massive amounts of str4 shots at a unit..

For Tervigon I always take the cluster spines upgrade and electroshock grubs upgrade.

Carnifexes are great but only if you take them with 2x TL Devourers with brain leech worms. I wouldnt take more then 2 per team though cuz 24 Sttr6 TL shots is enough most of the time. more tends to be overkill.

if your group allows forge world stuff then Malanthrope is ridiculously better then venomthropes. it basicly brings your army to the next level.

footslogging tyrants arent really good in this codex pin some wings him and turn him from completely subpar to best unit in your codex bro
the Malanthropes/Zoanthrope will take care of giving synapse to your units

Not much to add, based on your list, the best use you can make of the new pods is on the Carnifexen. You might go ahead and put Bio-plasma on them so they can get a shot off when they arrive.

I don't much like walking Tyrants in the current environment...you might just drop it, use the Tervigon as a second HQ (with Thorax Hive) and have no need for a Big Brood of Termagants. If you want to run Devilgaunts, I like running it as x20,+10 Devils. for 160 points. (Assuming you want a OS counts as Troops Tervigon)

The will of the hive is always the same: HUNGER
