I am in the process of trying to include more Kroot into my Tau army but I want to add more variety and flair/coolness/uniqueness to my army also.

I already have 18/20 Kroot models and want to add 20 more Krpot count-as. I was thinking of using some Lizardmen or Beastman models but am stuck how to represent the Kroot rifles as I want to stay as close to wysiwyg. What would you guys suggest?

Or does anyone have any conversions that they have made?

I just need to make sure that I use GW models.

Get cheap second hand Kroots off eBay and recycle the rifles.

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.

I'll see if I an get some pics up of my counts-as Kroot tomorrow for you.
I've been building a Tau themed army around Auxiliaries, and currently have some standard Tau, Ork allies, Vespid, Kroot and Tarellian Dog Soldiers as counts- as Kroot.

Tarellians are a reptilian species that swore allegiance to the Tau after the Imperium virus bombed their home world.

Easiest way to make them was just combine Fire Warrior shoulder pads, Kroot rifle arms and guns with Lizardmen Saurus Warrior bodies.

It's simple and effective.

Use lo-tech WHFB muskets and rifles? In fact, you could avoid a whole lot of conversion work by simply using WHFB humans with muskets and rifles, with some minor details added to make them look a bit more sci-fi. I've seen great human mercenaries counting-as Tau Warriors, so why not humans counting-as Kroot?

Blood Axes Orks.

Fits fluff-wise, and Orks or Kroot have roughly the same fighting ability.

As an ork collector, I should have thought of that

Yes, orks with shootas customised to look more like Kroot rifles would be easy to do.
