I propose the Ork Rokk

35 pt Drop Pod exept:
Always Scatters
Always Explodes! on impact instead of immobilzed
Explodes is 2d6 range instead of d6
Explodes is rending, s6 to all models not inside
Can carry 30 models

DT or HS option.

Thoughts?

Even though the models inside aren't affected by the S6 Rending hit, they'll still take hits due to being inside a vehicle when it explodes, so you'll be paying 35pts for a unit which kills a number of your own units and automatically gives up a kill point simply by arriving on the battlefield.

Orky enough! Though, i'm not sure about s6 rending. And you should restrict the use of meganobz, i think.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
As a HS option i can see it as something like an orbital bombardment tool, soo too exploitable.

I dont get why it has to explode automatically. Cant that just be a roll of a D6 where on a 6 it explodes and hurts only those on the outside, on a 1 it only hurts those inside, then in the middle it can hurt both?

Oooh, Mojo, I like that idea.

Yeah, it'll hurt the Ork player quite a bit. But what's more Orky than that?

Probably two other changes:
-No Drop Pod Assault rule (regular reserves)
-Resolves the Explodes damage before removing the Rokk

Might actually get you FB, but usually FB is on t1.

What do y'all think about cost/strength explodes/capacity?

Ork Rokk: 35 point Heavy Support option, or Dedicated Transport for Nobz and Boyz.

Transport Capacity: The Rokk has a transport capacity of 30 models and can carry Jump Infantry, Bikes and Jetbikes.

Deep Strike: The Rokk always arrives by Deep Strike. Instead of placing a model, place the Large Blast Marker where you would like the Rokk to land. If, when rolling to scatter, a Hit is rolled, the Rokk still scatters, however the owning player gets to choose the direction of the scatter.

Upon arrival, the Rokk is very likely to explode. After determining scatter, roll a D6. On a 1, the Rokk collapses. The embarked unit suffers a number of Strength 4 AP- hits equal to the number of models embarked allocated randomly. On a 2-5, in addition to the embarked unit suffering the hits, all nearby units suffer a number of hits equal to the number of models at least partially under the maker, allocated as if using a barrage weapon. On a 6, instead use the Apocalyptic Blast marker. In addition to the effects of 2-5, the attack has the Pinning special rule. If available, place a crater of suitable size where the Rokk landed. After resolving the damage, any remaining embarked models are placed in Deep Strike formation centred under the blast marker. Any models that cannot be placed (due to impassable terrain or proximity to models) are removed as casualties.

The Rokk itself is ignored for the purposes of Victory Points and Mission Objectives.

What do you guys think?

Bharring - sorry for highjacking your thread like this, but I figured I combine your initial posts with what other people had to say.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.
Orks always ride in single file to hide their strength and numbers.

Not a heavy support option, we already have too many of those tyvm. Maybe an Elite or Fast Attack option?

When it lands, it should hit with the Bomb rule, so that the model in the center gets hit first.

Otherwise, would it be worthing having something like "upon explosion, a creater is left in its position, granting a 5+ coversave to all units within the creater" ?

30 Orks by Foot.
17-20 in a Battlewagon.
12 in a Trukk.

I want offical rules for the Super-Ork that the Mad Dok is working on...

I rather like the cover save option. I also think if the rok has a chance to stay on the field, that it should be like any other dedicated transport.

And yes, if it explodes upon arrival it shouldn't concede first blood or a kill point. "Dsn't count, cuz we dead." could be the name of the special rule.

No problem, happyjew, that's the intent of this thread. I actually don't play Orkz myself, but thought it'd be awesome to have this.

How 'bout it has this rule:
Werk'd as Intended!: Models with this rule are never considered for VPs or Objectives.

As for showing up, I liked the idea of being destroyed regardless. That way, as long as the mob has a footprint equal or smaller than the rokk, they can be placed. And I intended for them to have Inertial Guidance. Doesn't Explodes leave behind a crator anyways?

I wanted to stick with Pod rules to keep things in line with existing mechanics. Better that way. I could see centering the template over the vehicle, but 2d6 is much more similar to normal Explodes, and feels more Orky.

Do the Orkz need anything to help them survive the impact? I would hope it were used for Infantry, perhaps exclusively
